AX Quikstart Guide Pg. 1 AX QuikStart Guide - INITIAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS - Before proceeding with the installation of the AX system, please review these instructions. 1. The complete AX System Installation & Operation Manual is located on the CD included with the CEU. 2. The software program to set up the CEU is located on the CD as well. The CEU must be configured specifically for your system in order for it to function properly. 3. Included with the CEU is a USB to serial converter, along with a gender changer. Connect power supplies and turn on CEU. 2. If a serial output is not available on your PC, install the USB driver that comes with the converter on your PC. 3. Attach the gender changer to the converter and plug converter into the RS232 port on the AX Exchange unit. 4. Plug the other side of the USB converter into the USB port on the computer. This will allow you to upload and download program information between the PC and CEU via the AX Setup Tool program. - INSTRUCTIONS - The AXW-AVT is designed to allow connection of a standard AX-series audio video door station (or audio- only IE-series door station) via the AXW-AVT, conditioning the signal for use with 3rd party transmission equipment (Ethernet). External video input is provided at adaptor to allow 3rd party camera input, output to recording devices, etc. A motion detector or other activation device can be connected to the Sensor input to trigger door / camera activation. The units also feature a relay output to trigger an external device, such as a DVR or video switcher local to the AXW-AVT whenever the audio and/or video is active. Alternatively, the AXW-AVT can be used to adapt an AX-series audio video door station to a standalone third party device (video server, network DVR, etc). AUDIO IN/OUT: Input / Output connections for audio transmission (line level, polarity indicated by ‘+’ and ‘-’). CALL IN/OUT: Transistor-switched input / output to be connected to relay input / output on transmission equipment. ‘Call In’ indicates call placed by door station, ‘Call Out’ indicates master-initiated activity (polarity indicated by ‘+’ and ‘-’). SENSOR NC, NC: Normally Closed contact input, activates ‘Call In’ function when tripped by external motion detector or other device with N/C contacts. RELAY NO, NO: Normally Open relay contact, activated whenever communication is active. VIDEO IN: Composite input signal from CCTV camera, if used in place of AX-series audio video door station. VIDEO OUT: Composite output to external transmission equipment. Source dependent upon CCTV / DOOR switch. CCTV / DOOR SWITCH: Determines whether AX-series audio/video door station video (‘DOOR’ setting) or external CCTV video (‘CCTV’ setting) will be present on ‘VIDEO OUT’ for connection to external transmission equipment. 24V +, - 24V DC input (use Aiphone PS-2420UL). AX-A, AX-AN (Surface Mount); AX-B, AX-BN (Semi-Flush Mount) - INSTRUCTIONS - The AX-A, AX-AN, AX-B, and AX-BN are interior sub stations designed for use with the AX system. The AX-A and AX-AN sub stations are surface mount and will mount to a single gang box or can be set on a desk or table top. The AX-B and AX-BN sub stations are semi-flush mount and can be mounted into a 6-⅛" H x 3-¾” W cutout in a wall, or can be mounted using the model BBX-1E back box. The sub stations with the “N” at the end of the model number include the PRIVACY feature, which prevents a master station from hearing audio from that sub location while the Privacy button is engaged. Loosen the screw under the directory cover and remove the intercom unit from the back chassis. Secure chassis to box or wall using supplied mounting screws. Connect wires to unit, then reinstall to chassis and reinsert directory cover.
