It has one RS-232C interface for connection to the network master converter (like MBRS-xx) and for initial programming. It operates in GSM networks and needs operational SIM card (mini-SIM) with activated GPRS service. 1. General technical data - connection protocol – TCP/IP over GPRS on GSM networks - power supply – 170-250Vac/ 200-350Vdc - max. power consumption – <1W (not transmitting), <2.5W (transmitting) - serial port baud rate – 300/1.2k/2.4k/4.8k/9.6k/19.2k/38.4k bps - ambient temperature, operating – -20÷+50 °C - ambient temperature, storage – -50÷+90 °C - air humidity, operating & storage – 40÷90 % - dimensions (H/W/D) – 105/107/74 mm (w/o antenna) / 106/107/85 mm (w/t antenna) - protection class – IP30 - display – 4 LEDs (on, GPRS, M-bus /local communication/, line /remote communication/) - weight – 350 g 2. MBGP-1 operation МBGP-1 begins operation immediately after power-up. After initialization (about 2s), the programmed MBGP-1 enters “Command mode”/ checks for connection time. The connection with servers is initiated by MBGP-1 (client). All of the contacted servers must have static real IP-addresses in order for MBGP-1 to be able to connect to them. MBGP-1 can contact up to six servers – two “control” operators and four “data” operators. The two control servers can program all network access settings and have no access to the transmitted data. Otherwise, the data operators can access only the data, but cannot program any network parameters. If it is needed for an operator to have access both to the network settings and the data, its IP-address must be set both as control and data operator. Accessible mediums for every data operator may be programmed, so, for example, the operator which monitors water consumption, cannot access the data, monitored by gas supplier and vice-versa. MBGP-1 tries to connect to the servers after predetermined period of time (default 1h). Each of the servers can accept or reject the incoming connection. If the connection is accepted, MBGP-1 starts with identification data packet to identify the remote reading network, connected to this particular MBGP-1. After identifying the network the server can reprogram network parameters (for control operators) or access network data (data operators). After reprogramming the parameters or gathering the data, the server sends packet for closing the connection. After receiving this packet, MBGP-1 closes the connection and tries to connect to the next server in the list until all the servers in the list are contacted. Then MBGP- 1 waits for predetermined period of time before attempting to connect again to the first server in the list. If the connection is accepted by the server, but then there is no communication for predefined period of time (default 300s), MBGP-1 drops the connection and goes to the next server in the list. The connection is dropped after the same period of inactivity from the server. Initial parameters programming is essential and includes setting the connection parameters (Access Point Name, user id, password, SIM PIN) and remote reading network parameters (baud rate and parity of serial connection, remote reading network number). These parameters must be set first, and after successful connection all the parameters can be set remotely by the server. Direct programming of the parameters can be done with simple terminal program (like GiCom) or by special software. When using terminal program, the parameters are set as follows: each line starts with the keyword “SET”, then space, then parameter code, “=” sign, value of the parameter. Like this: SET IPMA=77.70.121.93 sets the first control operator (manufacturer) IP-address for this network to 77.70.121.93 After parameter value there should not be any additional characters (like CR, LF, etc.), the string should be send to the MBGP-1 directly. MBGP-1 responds to every command with either success or error.

The connection is dropped from the server, if idled, after 180 seconds. The device has two leds – first indicating power is applied to the device, and the second is lit or blinks when GPRS is active and RSSI info can be read from the network. If the second LED is lit, then the signal strength is better than -75dBm, if the LED blinks, it is below that value. If this LED is off – no GSM/GPRS connections available.

It has RS-232C interface for connection to the reading server (master modem) or to a M-bus converter device (slave modem). 1. General technical data - connection protocol – V.32 bis / V.22 / V.21 - connection speed – 300/1200/2400/4800/7200/9600/12000/14400 bps - power supply – 9 Vac/150mA или 12 Vdc/150mA, adapter 2 mm - max. power consumption @ 12Vdc – <0.4W (idle), <0.8W (online) - serial port baud rate – 2400/4800/9600/19200/300 bps - ambient temperature, operating – -20÷+50 °C - ambient temperature, storage – -50÷+90 °C - air humidity, operating & storage – 40÷90 % - dimensions (L/W/H) – 125/70/30 mm - protection class – IP30 - display – 4 LEDs (on, link, comm /local communication/, line /remote communication/) - weight – 160 g 2. MBLM-2 operation MBLM-2 is powered by external adapter 9 Vac/150 mA or 12 Vdc/150mA. The central pin of the power connector is 2mm thick. We recommend adapter with power rating 12 Vdc/2W. Power supply voltage should not exceed 14 Vdc. МBLM-2 begins operation immediately after power-up. After initialization (about 2s), MBLM-2 enters “Command mode” for master modem or “Incoming call waiting” for slave modem. The working mode (master/slave) is determined by the state of the serial port’s RTS signal (pin 7). MBLM-2 recognizes the following commands *: - info – returns information about MBLM-2 hardware and software version - prm – returns information about all MBLM-2 programmable parameters values. It is also used for programming any of these parameters. - reset – restarts and re-initializes MBLM-2 (used after baud rate change) - dial number – dials “number” and connects to the MBLM-2, connected to the phone line, described with ‘number’. “Number” can contain only digits (0-9). Only tone dialing supported. * - all commands may be lower or upper case. No other preceding or trailing characters allowed (such as space, CR, LF, etc.) Commands «info» and «prm» are valid also with slave modem, when sent by the master modem through the telephone line. It enables the master modem (and the server software) to set remotely all programmable parameters of the slave MBLM-2 and to check its version. Connection to remote reading network by MBLM-2 For remote connection by telephone line to remote reading system it is needed that two MBLM-2 are used. One of them is configured as master (reading server side) and the other is configured as slave (remote network side). If our software is used, MBLM-2 is configured automatically as master when connected to the PC. MBLM-2, connected to an m-bus converter type MBRS-xx is automatically configured as slave. Both modems must be connected to the telephone line. MBLM-2’s serial ports configuration (baud rate and parity control - programmable parameters CPB and CPP) depends on their mode – master or slave. The master communicates with the server PC

Power supply voltage should not exceed 20 Vdc/ 15 Vac. МBET-2 begins operation immediately after power-up. After initialization (about 2s), MBET-2 enters “Command mode”/ checks for connection time, if device is set as remote client. The connection with servers can be initiated by MBET-2 (acts as a client) or from external network (MBET-2 acts as a server). The mode of MBET-2 is configured with service command through RS-232 interface. The two control servers/clients can program all network access settings and have no access to the transmitted data. Otherwise, the data operators can access only the data, but cannot program any network parameters. If it is needed for an operator to have access both to the network settings and the data, its IP- address must be set both as control and data operator. Accessible mediums for every data operator may be programmed, so, for example, the operator which monitors water consumption, cannot access the data, monitored by gas supplier and vice-versa. If device is set as client, MBET-2 tries to connect to the remote servers after predetermined period of time (default 1h). Each of the servers can accept or reject the incoming connection. If the connection is accepted, MBET-2 starts with identification data packet to identify the remote reading network, connected to this particular MBET-2. After identifying the network the server can reprogram network parameters (for control operators) or access network data (data operators). After reprogramming the parameters or gathering the data, the server sends packet for closing the connection. After receiving this packet, MBET-2 closes the connection and tries to connect to the next server in the list until all the servers in the list are contacted. Then MBET-2 waits for predetermined period of time before attempting to connect again to the first server in the list.

Manufacturer Gineers Ltd. 7 “Iskarsko shausse” blvd, TCE, building 4 1756 Sofia, Bulgaria tel./fax (+359-2) 9758105 URL: http://www.gineers.com e-mail: [email protected] Ethernet/Internet modem MBET-2 M-BUS Series Instruction manual MBET-2 is an internet/ LAN data transceiver for use in remote reading systems, mostly m-bus. It has one RS-232C interface for connection to the network master converter (like MBRS-xx) and for initial programming. 1. General technical data - connection protocol – TCP/IP - connection speed – 10/100 Mbit - power supply – 6-9 Vac/200mA or 5-12 Vdc/200mA, adapter 2 mm - max. power consumption @ 12Vdc – <1W - serial port baud rate – 300/1.2k/2.4k/4.8k/9.6k/19.2k/38.4k bps - ambient temperature, operating – -20÷+50 °C - ambient temperature, storage – -50÷+90 °C - air humidity, operating & storage – 40÷90 % - dimensions (L/W/H) – 100/55/30 mm - protection class – IP30 - display – 4 LEDs (on, link, comm /local communication/, line /remote communication/) - weight – 100 g 2. MBET-2 operation MBET-2 is powered by external adapter 6-9 Vac/200 mA or 5-12 Vdc/200mA. The central pin of the power connector is 2mm thick. We recommend adapter with power rating 6-12 Vdc/5W. All of the contacted servers/clients must have static real IP-addresses in order for MBET-2 to be able to connect to them (or proper routing must be done by system administrator). MBET-2 can contact up to six servers/clients – two “control” operators and four “data” operators. After receiving this packet, MBET-2 closes the connection and tries to connect to the next server in the list until all the
