01/2013 shredstar X15_X18 7 english The shredder is designed exclusively for de- stroying paper. Depending on the cutting type, it can also handle small quantities of CDs, credit and charge cards. Its sturdy drive mechanism is not damaged by paper clips and staples. The warranty period for the document shredder is 2 years. This warranty and guarantee exclude wear and damage caused by improper handling or actions taken by third parties. 1 Proper use, warranty Before using the machine for the fi rst time, read the operating manual, and keep it for later use and to pass on to any subsequent users. Observe all safety in- structions on to the machine. WARNING Dangerous for children and others! The machine may not be used by persons (including children under 14 years of age) with limited physi- cal, sensory or mental capabilities or with a lack of experience and knowl- edge, unless they are supervised by a responsible person or are instructed by them on the use of the machine. Children must be supervised to ensure they do not play with the machine. Do not leave the document shredder switched on when it is unattended. 2 Safety instructions Classifi cation Safety notice Explanation WARNING Failure to observe this warning can lead to serious or fatal injury. Notice Failure to observe this instruction can cause damage. WARNING Risk of injury! Do not reach into the paper feed slot. Risk of injury from being pulled in! Keep long hair, loose articles of cloth- ing, ties, scarves, jewellery, etc. away from feed opening. Material with the tendency to form loops, e.g. tapes, strapping material, etc. must not be shredded. Risk of combustion! Do not use cleaning agents or pres- surized air sprays which contain infl ammable substances, as they could ignite. WARNING Dangerous mains voltage! Improper handling of the machine can lead to an electric shock. – Before you insert the power plug, make sure that the voltage and frequency of your power supply comply with the information on the name plate. – Make sure that the power plug is easily ac- cessible. – Make sure that no water gets into the shred- der. Do not immerse the power cable or the power plug in water. – Never touch the power plug with wet hands. – Never pull the plug out of the socket using the power cable. Always pull out the plug directly. – Only use the machine in a dry room indoors. Never operate the machine in damp rooms or in the rain.

1 Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung, Gewährleistung Das Gerät ist ausschließlich zum Vernichten kleinerer Mengen von Disketten, CDs, Kreditkarten und Papier bestimmt. Das robuste Schneidwerk ist unempfi ndlich gegen Heft- und Büroklammern. Die Ge- währleistungszeit für den Aktenvernichter beträgt 2 Jahre. Verschleiß, Schäden durch unsachgemäße Behandlung, natürliche Abnutzung bzw. Eingriffe von dritter Seite fallen nicht unter die Gewährleistung. 2 Übersicht / Technische Daten DEUTSCH BETRIEBSANLEITUNG SHREDSTAR X15 3 Sicherheitshinweise Verletzungsgefahr! Fassen Sie nicht in den Schlitz der Zuführungsöffnung. Verletzungsgefahr durch Einziehen! Bringen Sie lange Haare, lose Kleidung, Krawatten, Schals, Hals– und Armkettchen usw. nicht in den Bereich der Zuführungsöffnung und verarbeiten Sie kein Material, welches zu Schlingenbildung neigt, z.B. Bänder, Verschnürungen, Kunststofffolie usw. Verletzungsgefahr durch Splitter! Tragen Sie beim Vernichten von harten Kreditkarten, CDs oder Disketten eine Schutz- brille. Vor Platzwechsel, Reinigung oder jeder anderen Tätigkeit außer der normalen Bedie- nung das Gerät ausschalten und Netzstecker ziehen. Reparaturen dürfen nur von ausgebildetem Service-Personal durchgeführt werden. Stellen Sie den X15 außerhalb der Reichweite von Kindern auf. Lesen Sie vor Inbetriebnahme des Gerätes die Betriebsanleitung und bewahren Sie sie für späteren Gebrauch auf. Lassen Sie das Gerät nur in Anwesenheit einer Bedienperson laufen. 4 Aufstellung Überprüfen Sie vor dem Einstecken des Netzsteckers, dass Spannung und Frequenz Ihres Strom- netzes mit den Angaben auf dem Typenschild übereinstimmen. Achten Sie darauf, dass der Netzstecker leicht erreichbar ist. Der Aktenvernichter darf nicht in der Nähe eines Heizkörpers oder einer anderen Wärmequelle aufgestellt werden. Die Lüftungsschlitze müssen frei sein und ein Abstand zur Wand oder zu Möbeln von min. 5 cm eingehalten werden. 5 Bedienung X15 einschalten • Drücken Sie Wippschalter Pos. "I". Grüne LED-Anzeige leuchtet. Aktenvernichter ist betriebsbereit. • Jeweils nur eine Diskette oder eine CD oder eine Kreditkarte oder max. 15 Blatt Papier zuführen. Führen Sie CDs und Disketten durch den Schlitz im Sicherheitselement zu. Das schützt Sie vor Splittern. Das Schneidwerk startet automatisch. Material wird eingezogen und vernichtet. Danach schaltet das Schneidwerk ab. Die maximale ununterbrochene Betriebszeit beträgt 5 Minuten. Lassen Sie das Gerät danach ca. 20 - 30 Minuten abkühlen. X15 ausschalten • Wippschalter Pos. "R" antippen. Bei anderen Störungen schalten Sie die Maschine aus und benachrichtigen Sie unseren Kundendienst. 7 Reinigung Gerät ausschalten, Netzstecker ziehen. Die Reinigung darf nur mit einem weichen Tuch und einer milden Seifenwasserlösung erfolgen. Bei nachlassender Schnittleistung oder Geräuschentwicklung: • Aktenvernichter ausschalten • Schneidblock–Spezialöl (Bestellnummer 1.235.997.403) durch die Papierzuführungsöffnung auf der ganzen Breite hineinspritzen. • Schneidwerk ohne Papierzufuhr rückwärts (Pos. Do not reach into the feed slot. Risk of injury by pulling in! Keep long hair, loose articles of clothing, ties, scarves, jewellery etc. away from feed opening. Material with the tendency to form loops, e.g. tapes, strapping material, etc. must not be shredded. Risk of injury from slivers! Wear protective goggles when destroying diskettes, CDs and hard credit cards. Before changing the location or cleaning turn off and unplug the paper shredder! Repairs may only be made by qualifi ed service personnel. Keep the X15 out of the reach of children. Read all instructions before start-up of the shredder. Save these instructions for later use. This shredder should be operated only with an operator in attendance. 4 Installation Before plugging in the mains plug, check that the voltage and frequency of your local mains supply correspond to those stated on the type plate. Make sure the mains plug is easily accessible. The shred- der may not be placed near a heater or other heat source. The ventilation slots must not be blocked or covered and there must be at least 5 cm space between the shredder and any wall or furniture. 5 Put ting in to ope ra ti on Switching the X15 on • Press rocker switch pos. "I". Green LED lights. Paper shredder is ready for operation. • Only insert one fl oppy disk or one CD or one credit card or max. 15 sheets of paper. Feed CDs and disks through the slot in the safety element. This protects you from splinters. Cutting system starts automatically. The material is drawn in and destroyed. The cutting device then switches off. The maximum uninterrupted operating time is 5 minutes. Afterwards, allow the device to cool down for approx. 20 - 30 minutes. Switching the X15 off • Tap rocker switch pos. "R". Rocker switch resets to zero position. 6 Troubleshooting LED indicator Cause Troubleshooting LED indicator does not light up - Insert the paper basket. Red LED indicator fl ashes Overheating Leave the machine to cool down for approx. 20 minutes. Red LED indicator lights up Overloading Press the rocker switch to position “R”. Remove the material. Do not feed in more material than permitted. Both LED indicators light up Shredded material container full Empty the container. For any other malfunctions, switch off the machine and get in touch with our customer service. 7 Cleaning Switch off the shredder, pull out the mains plug. When cleaning only use a soft cloth and a mild soap-water solution. When the cutting capacity drops or the noise increases: • Switch paper shredder off: • Spray special cutting block oil (Order No.: 1.235.997.403) through paper feed opening across the whole width of the cutting system blades. • Run cutting system backwards (pos.
