10/2013 shredstar X5 7 english The shredder is designed exclusively for de- stroying paper. Depending on the cutting type, it can also handle small quantities of CDs, credit and charge cards. Do not insert very large paperclips, envelopes with windows, padded envelopes, newspapers, slides, laminated docu- ments, cardboard, plastic, adhesive or hard materials. The warranty period for the document shredder is 2 years. This warranty excludes wear, dam- age due to improper handling, natural deprecia- tion, and actions taken by third parties. 1 Proper use, warranty Before using the machine for the fi rst time, read the operating manual, and keep it for later use and to pass on to any subsequent users. Observe all safety in- structions onto the machine. WARNING Dangerous for children and others! The machine may not be used by persons (including children under 14 years of age) with limited physi- cal, sensory or mental capabilities or with a lack of experience and knowl- edge, unless they are supervised by a responsible person or are instructed by them on the use of the machine. Children must be supervised to ensure they do not play with the machine. Do not leave the document shredder switched on when it is unattended. 2 Safety instructions Classifi cation Safety notice Explanation WARNING Failure to observe this warning can lead to serious or fatal injury. Notice Failure to observe this instruction can cause damage. WARNING Risk of injury! Do not reach into the paper feed slot. Risk of injury from being pulled in! Keep long hair, loose articles of cloth- ing, ties, scarves, jewellery, etc. away from feed opening. Material with the tendency to form loops, e.g. tapes, strapping material, etc. must not be shredded. Risk of combustion! Do not use cleaning agents or pres- surized air sprays which contain infl ammable substances, as they could ignite. WARNING Dangerous mains voltage! Improper handling of the machine can lead to an electric shock. – Before you insert the power plug, make sure that the voltage and frequency of your power supply comply with the information on the name plate. – Make sure that the power plug is easily ac- cessible. – Make sure that no water gets into the shred- der. Do not immerse the power cable or the power plug in water. – Never touch the power plug with wet hands. – Never pull the plug out of the socket using the power cable. Always pull out the plug directly. – Only use the machine in a dry room indoors. Never operate the machine in damp rooms or in the rain.

Safety instructions Risk of injury! Do not reach into the feed slot. Risk of injury by pulling in! Keep long hair, loose articles of clothing, ties, scarves, jewellery etc. away from feed opening. Material with the tendency to form loops, e.g. tapes, strapping material, etc. must not be shredded. Before changing the location or cleaning turn off and unplug the paper shredder! Repairs may only be made by qualifi ed service personnel. Keep the shredder out of the reach of children. Read all instructions before start-up of the shredder. Save these instructions for later use. This shredder should be operated only with an operator in attendance. 4. Installation This paper shredder should never be placed near or over a radiator or heat source. The ventilation slots must not be blocked or covered and they must be at a distance of at least 10 cm away from walls or furniture. Before plugging in the mains plug, check that the voltage and frequency of your local mains supply correspond to those stated on the type plate. Make sure the mains plug is easily accessible. 5. Put ting in to ope ra ti on Switching the paper shredder on • Set the sliding switch to „ON/AUTO". The „READY“ display glows. The shredder is now ready for operation. • Feed in the paper to be shredded, however, never feed in more than 5 sheets at a time. The cutting device starts automatically, pulls in the paper and shreds it. When the feed opening is clear of paper again, the cutting device switches off. Swit ching paper shredder off • Set the sliding switch to "OFF". 6. Troubleshooting Pa per jam • Set the slider switch to "REV". Pa per is pus hed out. • Set the sli der switch to "ON" again. • Do not feed in too many sheets at once. Cut material container Check the level in the shredded material container and empty it in good time, as otherwise the function of the cutting device could be impaired. If other faults occur, please check the following before calling our customer service: • Is mains plug in ser ted? Î insert • Is the mo tor over lo aded? Î al low mo tor to cool down for approx. 30 min. 7. Cleaning and care Switch off the shredder, pull out the mains plug. When cleaning only use a soft cloth and a mild soap- water solution. After approx. every 100 working cycles, spray standard, commercially-available, special cleaning oil for shredders through the feed opening over the entire width of the cutting device. Let the cutting device run backwards several times in the „REV“ setting without feeding in any paper. This loosens paper dust and particles. 1. Cut material container 2. Feed opening 3. Bitte beachten Sie, dass das Papier frei von Büroklammern ist. Büroklammern können das Schneidwerk beschädigen. Die Gewährleistungszeit für den Aktenvernichter beträgt 2 Jahre. Verschleiß, Schäden durch un- sachgemäße Behandlung, natürliche Abnutzung bzw. Eingriffe von dritter Seite fallen nicht unter die Gewährleistung. 2. Sicherheitshinweise Verletzungsgefahr! Fassen Sie nicht in den Schlitz der Zuführungsöffnung. Verletzungsgefahr durch Einziehen! Bringen Sie lange Haare, lose Kleidung, Krawatten, Schals, Hals– und Armkettchen usw. nicht in den Bereich der Zuführungsöffnung und verarbeiten Sie kein Material, welches zu Schlingenbildung neigt, z.B. Bänder, Verschnürungen, Kunststofffolie usw. Vor Platzwechsel, Reinigung oder jeder anderen Tätigkeit außer der normalen Bedie- nung das Gerät ausschalten und Netzstecker ziehen. Reparaturen dürfen nur von ausgebildetem Service-Personal durchgeführt werden. Stellen Sie den Aktenvernichter außerhalb der Reichweite von Kindern auf. Lesen Sie vor Inbetriebnahme des Gerätes die Betriebsanleitung und bewahren Sie sie für späteren Gebrauch auf. Lassen Sie das Gerät nur in Anwesenheit einer Bedienperson laufen. 4. Aufstellung Der Aktenvernichter darf nicht in der Nähe eines Heizkörpers oder einer anderen Wärmequelle aufge- stellt werden. Die Lüftungsschlitze müssen frei sein und ein Abstand zur Wand oder zu Möbelstücken von min. 10 cm eingehalten werden. Bitte überprüfen Sie vor dem Einstecken des Netzsteckers, dass Spannung und Frequenz Ihres Strom- netzes mit den Angaben auf dem Typenschild übereinstimmen. Achten Sie darauf, dass der Netzstecker leicht erreichbar ist. 5. Bedienung Aktenvernichter einschalten • Stellen Sie den Schiebeschalter auf „ON/AUTO". Die "READY"-Anzeige leuchtet auf. Der Aktenvernichter ist betriebsbereit. • Führen Sie das zu vernichtende Papier zu, jedoch niemals mehr als 5 Blatt gleichzeitig. Das Schneidwerk startet automatisch, zieht das Papier ein und vernichtet es. Wenn die Zuführungsöffnung wieder frei ist, schaltet das Schneidwerk ab. Aktenvernichter ausschalten • Stellen Sie den Schiebeschalter auf "OFF". 6. Störungsbeseitigung Papierstau • Stellen Sie den Schiebeschalter in Stellung "REV". Das Papier wird herausgeschoben. • Stellen Sie den Schiebeschalter wieder in Stellung "ON". • Führen Sie nicht mehr Blätter als zulässig zu. Schnittgutbehälter Überprüfen Sie regelmäßig den Füllstand im Schnittgutbehälter und leeren Sie ihn rechtzeitig, da sonst Funktionsstörungen am Schneidwerk auftreten können. Bei anderen Störungen prüfen Sie bitte vor der Benachrichtigung unseres Kundendienstes: • Ist der Netzstecker eingesteckt? Î einstecken • Ist der Motor überlastet? Î ca. 30 min abkühlen lassen 7. Reinigung und Wartung Gerät ausschalten, Netzstecker ziehen. Die Reinigung darf nur mit einem weichen Tuch und einer milden Seifenwasserlösung erfolgen. Sprühen Sie jeweils nach ca. 100 Arbeitszyklen handelsübliches Aktenvernichter-Spezialreinigungsöl durch die Zuführungsöffnung auf der ganzen Breite in das Schneidwerk. Lassen Sie das Schneidwerk in Stellung "REV" ohne Papier einige Sekunden rückwärts laufen. Papierstaub und Partikel werden gelöst.
