Do not point the laser directly into the eye or to any reflective surface! • When used in places with different temperatures allow 30 minutes for the device to adapt before using. • Keep away from electromagnetic fields, welding, induction forges, etc. • Do not leave the device on a high temperature object or near it. • Keep the device clean to prevent dirt getting into the laser hole and other gaps. It stores the data from every measurement which can be recalled with the MODE button until you perform another measurement. If you pull the trigger again, the device measures again in the previously selected mode. This button is also used to set the High and Low alarm values. User Manual EN Pressing the MODE button cycles through the available modes according to the below figure: °C/°F, Lock On / Off and Alarm switch 1.  °C/°F 2.  Lock On/Off 3.  Alarm • Select the temperature unit for the measurement (°C or °F) with the °C/°F switch. • To close the battery cover and continue measuring slide the middle Lock On/Off switch to the right. • If you pull the trigger with the battery cover closed the laser and backlight activates. To activate the alarm, slide the Set Alarm button to the right. • To select the high and low alarm values and emissivity you need to activate the display with the pull of the trigger or press of the MODE button, then press the MODE button until the proper code appears in the lower right corner and set the desired values with the up and down buttons. Measuring principle The device detects the infrared beams that an object emits. The device focuses the infrared energy of the object through a lentil into a sensor, converts the surface temperature into electronic signals and a microcomputer calculates and displays the temperature on the LCD screen. The device can measure the surface temperature of an object without direct contact. Aim the laser on the measured object only! Measuring method • To measure the temperature of an object point the device to the object and pull the trigger. Continuous measurement is possible with holding the trigger. The LCD display shows the measured value even if the trigger is released. Approximately 7 seconds after the trigger is released, the device turns off. • If the object is far from the device you can turn on the laser pointer to help aiming. • For nighttime measurement turn on the backlight. • Select the °C or °F unit with the °C/°F button. D:S ratio The device has a vision angle and a spot size, as described on the below figure: Object Focus pipe Sensor Make sure that the object is larger than the spot size of the unit. To reduce this you need to move closer to the object. The ratio between the distance and the spot is 16:1, as shown on the below figure: EN User Manual Unit: mm D : S = 16 : 1 Distance (D) : Spot size (S) To avoid interference with another object's infrared light move closer to the object until the D:S ratio equals 12:1. Emissivity Emissivity describes the energy emission characteristics of materials. Enhancing emissivity means enlarging the emission capabilities of an object. Organic materials and oxidized metal surfaces have emissivity between 0.85-0.98. The device was designed for emissivity that equals 0.95. If the emissivity of the object is lower than 0.95m the measured temperature is lower than the actual temperature and vica versa. A shiny metal surface or a smooth painted surface has low emissivity. Pay attention to the effects of emissivity!
