DV-71 Quick Start Manual To set up your DV-71 video player you will use the IR remote control and access the on-screen menu. Connect the DV-71 to a monitor by VGA or HDMI cable and plug in the provided 5 volt DC regulated power supply. If there is no SD card or USB thumb drive inserted the main menu will appear. If currently playing a file you should press the “MENU” button on the IR remote. Use the left and right arrow keys on the IR remote to highlight the “setting” icon that has a picture of a wrench and screwdriver. Press “OK” on the IR remote. Use the up and down arrow keys on the IR remote to navigate the items on the left side. Highlight the item you wish to change and press “OK”. Use the up and down arrows to make your selection and press “OK”. Press the “RETURN” key on the IR remote to go back to the left side of the menu. When you are finished making all changes press the “RETURN” key to exit the setting menu. Press the play/pause key or power cycle to begin playing files. For most applications you will only need to set the “video output mode” you want to use and the “play mode”. Set the “video output mode” to best match the monitor you are using. Note that PAL and any 50HZ settings are for Europe. Use NTSC or 60HZ settings for USA. Use “Scale” on the remote as needed to fit the picture to your monitor. Set the “play mode” to “REPEAT” if you want all of the files on the SD card to play in sequence and repeat continuously. File names should start with 001.xxx. Set the “play mode” to “MENU” to use the serial port or DV-68K push button control to select files to play. In this mode, the file named 000.xxx will loop continuously until the player receives a command on the serial port. The files must be named 000.xxx, 001.xxx, 002.xxx and etc, where xxx = the proper file extension for the file type, like .mpg or .mp4 or .wmv. Files can be stored on and play from a SD card or a USB thumb drive. If the SD card is inserted it will take precedence. Many file types may be used including MPEG2, MPEG4-XVID, DIVX, H.264, WMV9 and RMVB. Refer to document “DV-71 File Types Supported” for complete details.
