May 2012 131610 CLS420® Forklift Scale Bluetooth Option Installation Instructions Option PN 130930 Electric Shock Hazard Warning Before opening the unit, ensure the power cord is disconnected from the power outlet. Bluetooth Option kit 130930 is intended to replace the Lantronix Matchport WLAN module on carrier board 109266. This combination provides for a simple RS-232 to Bluetooth converter, giving the user the ability to send and receive data from the scale indicator via a Bluetooth connection. The Bluetooth Option Kit contains the following: • Bluetooth Module (130929) • Antenna (98357) • 6” Antenna Cable (112228) • 8” Zip Tie (58579) Installing the Module to the Board Assembly (PN 109266) 1. Remove power from the indicator and remove the enclosure cover to gain access to the board assembly. 2. Loosen the cord grip securing the antenna in the enclosure. If the antenna cable is connected to the enclosure, remove the nut securing it and disconnect the antenna cable from the enclosure. 3. Remove the existing WLAN module by cutting the zip tie securing the module to the board assembly. Carefully remove the module and antenna cable assembly, and the used zip tie. See Figure 1. Figure 1. Cargo Lift Scale Series Wired to Wireless Conversion Instructions Manuals can be viewed or downloaded from the Rice Lake Weighing Systems website at www.ricelake.com/manuals The CLS Series Cargo Lift Scale has the capability to go from wired to wireless operation with a few steps. The wireless option attaches onto the back of the indicator and collects data from the junction box without the use of a coiled wire cable. The conversion kit contains the following items: • Angle/battery box assembly (PN 167282) • Wireless sub-assembly box (PN 98289) • Lithium-Ion battery (PN 96343) • Lithium-Ion battery charger (PN 96344) Wireless communication between the indicator and the junction box which is located on the forklift and is powered by a lithium-ion battery housed in a battery box. Figure 1. Wireless Components for Communication To convert the unit from wired to wireless: 1. Remove the angle bracket and the wired cable connecting the indicator to the forklift scale. 2. Install and wire from the wireless sub-assembly box to the indicator. 3. Install the angle/battery box assembly to the top of the carriage. Remove Wired Cable To remove the wired cable from the forklift to the indicator: 1. Cut cable ties that are securing the coiled wire between the bottom of the scale and the top of the mast of the forklift. 2. Disconnect the cable from the indicator. 3. Remove top cover plate from the forklift to access the junction box located beneath. 4. Disconnect the wired cabling from the junction box. PN 101112 Rev B May 14, 2019
