NCR or Carbonless paper has chemical composition which damages the Pad Assembly. Cleaning of the consumable, rollers and feed path will be required more frequently to avoid feed problems. Consumable life will be reduced if NCR or Carbonless paper is scanned. Pad Assembly Note: The Consumable Pad Assembly is replaceable only in the scanners listed below. Scanners not listed below must have the Pad Assembly replaced by a trained service person. Please consult the Fujitsu Technical Assistance Center for more details should you have a ScanPartner Scanner that does not fall within these parameters. 4 REPLACING THE PAD ASSEMBLY • Remove all the documents from the ADF Paper Chute. Open the ADF by pressing the ADF button. • Remove the ADF Pad Assembly by pressing the two knobs on the top of the Pad Assembly and sliding it out to remove it. • Attach the new Pad Assembly by pressing the two knobs on the top of the Pad Assembly and sliding it down into the slots to lock it in place. A defective or improperly installed Pad Assembly can cause miss picks, skew, or double fed documents. To replace the Pad Assembly perform the following steps. CLEANING LOCATIONS AND FREQUENCIES Note: The scanner will need to be cleaned every day (or possibly more than once a day) if the following paper is scanned. • Paper with special coating such as carbonless paper. • Paper with large amount of printing. (Heavy toner or ink) • Documents with toner that is not fused properly. 6 CLEANING THE ROLLERS WITH THE CLEANING PAPER • Set the Hopper Guides to the widest width possible. The cleaning papers are designed to remove only loose paper dust and ink from the rollers. Use the cleaning paper approximately every 1,000 sheets scanned. They are to be used in between the thorough cleanings of the scanner. Using the cleaning paper does not take the place of the more complete cleanings described later in this section • Spray the cleaning paper lightly with F1 Cleaner and place the Clean- ing Paper against the right edge of the Hopper Guide. Using the scanning application scan the cleaning paper. Do Not Save These Images. This operation is used only to pass the cleaning paper through the paper feed path. • Place the Cleaning Paper against the Left Hopper Guide and perform the previous step. • Check the path to see if it needs further cleaning. If you find debris in the paper path perform this cleaning or the (CLEANING THE ADF WITH LINT-FREE CLOTHS) in the following steps. Pad Assembly Feed Rollers, Pick Roller, Sheet guides, ADF Document Glass CLEANING THE ADF WITH LINT-FREE CLOTHS • Using a lint free cloth clean the Pad Assembly, Pick Rollers, Sheet Guides, Feed Rollers and Sub-document Bed Glass. Clean the Pad Assembly by wiping a lint-free cloth dampened with F1 cleaner in the direction of paper travel through the ADF. Be sure that the glass is cleaned and no residue is remaining that will cause visible streaking in the glass. All surfaces should be dry before beginning to scan documents after cleaning. • Use a lint free cloth to clean the Flatbed Glass.
