Explanation of Indicator Lights

The N4 indicates its status using the lights on the front. Indicator Light Behavior Symbol Name Expected Behavior Power • Red briefly at startup • White at all other times while N4 is on Wi-Fi • For future use Ethernet • Red briefly at connection to LAN (while N4 waits for an IP address) • White at all other times while network connection active • Dark if no LAN connection is detected • Blinking red if N4 detects a network wiring loopback KetraNet Mesh • Blinks red when a “remote access” message is sent or received • Solid red when the hub is configured for remote access, but the hub cannot connect to the remote access server KetraNet Link • Blinking white when a message is sent or received over KetraNet Link (wired communication with other Ketra devices) • Red when no Internet connection is detected • Dark at all other times 5 | N4 INSTALLATION GUIDE 770-000027-02 r17 © 2019 Ketra, Inc. For ideal KetraNet Mesh wireless performance, position the N4 according to these guidelines:

• Keep within range: Place the N4 within 50 ft (15.24 m) of at least one of the devices it will control. Ideally, place as close as possible to all devices it will control. • Avoid obstructions: Avoid having metal obstructions or walls between the N4 and the nearest device it will control. • Avoid metal enclosures. • Separate from Wi-Fi devices: Maintain at least 6 ft (1.83 m) of spacing between any KetraNet Mesh product and Wi-Fi routers and access points. The N4 is UL Damp Location-listed. The N4 has a suggested clearance of 4 in (101.6 mm) to ensure visibility of indicator lights and access to all ports (see fig. 5). Network Configuration The modem or router to which the N4 is connected must include a DHCP server from which the N4 can obtain an IPv4 address. (For the vast majority of modems and routers, this is the default.) All N4s that will be part of an installation together must be on the same LAN (Local Area Network) subnet. fig. 5 4 in (101.6 mm) 4 in (101.6 mm) 9 | N4 INSTALLATION GUIDE 770-000027-02 r17 © 2019 Ketra, Inc. Installation STEP 1 Apply Power to the Hub 1. Remove a half-inch knockout from the junction box. 2. Mount the N4 to the junction box. Fit the N4’s connector into the opening created in step 1. Secure the N4 by threading the provided threaded ring onto the mount. Notes: - Orientation: The N4's serial number (on the bottom) should face the access point. The serial number may be necessary for commissioning and servicing. - Clearance: Remove nearby obstructions. This will ensure the visibility of the indicator lights as well as access to all ports. 3. Splice the N4 into building power. Using the provided wire nuts, attach each lead wire to the corresponding conductor. All connections should be made inside the junction box. Black: Line White: Neutral Green: Ground Note: Once power is connected, the N4's power indicator light will come on. It will be red while the N4 boots up; afterward, it will turn white. STEP 2 Connect the Hub to the LAN (Local Area Network) Once a connection is detected, the N4’s Ethernet indicator, , will come on white.
