User and install guide
All parts are supplied as a delivered package.
Parts required for the installation to be supplied by the installer
1 x mains filter EPCOS B84112GG136, 36A rating
1 x suitable weatherproof enclosure for the filter, minimum IP54 rating, capable of accepting conduit fittings
Conduit as required
4mm2 or 6mm2 cable
Supply to be via a 32A, 30mA RCD or RCBO – see specification below
6 off crimp ring terminals to suit cable diameter used
If the consumer unit/distribution board is some way from the Homecharge installation, then it is recommended that a
32A rotary isolator weatherproof switch is used to connect to the filter and Homecharge unit, such that this part of the
installation can be isolated from the incoming supply.
Instructions
Supporting Images are provided overleaf.
Please Note: Please be careful not to scratch the front plate at any time on unpacking or installation.
1) Determine the position of the consumer unit that will be used to supply the Homecharge unit and resultant conduit and
cable lengths. The filter is to be mounted in a suitable enclosure near to the Homecharge unit.
2) Do not install the Homecharge unit near potential sources of water, flammable, explosive or combustible materials.
3) The recommended mounting height for the unit is 1.2 metres (1200mm) from the floor to the centre point of the unit.
4) Ensure the unit is within 0.5 to 3m of the Electric Vehicle (EV) inlet and positioned such that the tethered cable terminated
in the J1772 connector is not strained or cannot be damaged or stepped on.
5) The tethered cable and incoming mains conduit are mounted on the bottom of the unit (see pictures 1 and 2).
6) Offer the rear bracket of the unit up to the wall at the recommended height ensuring it is level.
7) Mark the wall through the 3 mounting points in the bracket (see picture 3).
8) Drill 3 x 10mm holes to a depth of 30mm at the marked locations.
9) Fix the bracket to the wall with the 3 x Rawlbolts supplied, using the sealing washers under the head of the Rawlbolt to
ensure the bracket is not damaged.
10) Offer the Homecharge unit up to the bracket, locating the lugs on the bracket into the Homecharge rear bracket and secure
with the domed head screw provided at the bottom of the Homecharge unit (see picture 4).
11) A 32A supply is required from the consumer unit via a 30mA RCD (see specification).
12) It is recommended that at least 4mm2 cable is used. Live, neutral and earth connections are required.

13) Fit sufficient length of cable and conduit from the supply RCD to the Homecharge unit.
14) The straight fitting M20 threaded end and locknut on the free end of the flexible conduit from the Homecharge unit can be
mounted into the enclosure for the filter.
15) Mount the filter in the enclosure.
16) Terminate the incoming supply cable wire ends onto ring crimps and screw onto the input side of the filter (live, neutral and
earth).
17) Feed the supply cable wires protruding from the Homecharge unit into the filter enclosure.
18) Terminate the green/yellow earth wire, brown live and blue neutral wires onto ring crimps and screw the live and neutral
onto the output side of the filter terminals. Note there is only one earth terminal on the filter; ensure both the supply earth
and earth wire from the Homecharge unit connect to the earth screw post on the filter.
19) A 32A rotary isolator switch can be connected to the incoming supply in order to isolate the filter and Homecharge unit.
20) Test the electrical installation, cabling and circuit protection and ensure all lids have been fitted and the installation is safe.
21) Operate the 32A RCD.
22) Check that the top amber light illuminates on the Homecharge unit.

23) Remove the protection wrapping from the J1772 EV connector at the end of the tethered cable.
24) Verify that the unit works charging the Electric Vehicle as described in the user manual.
25) Return the key to the vertical position.
26) Stow the cable by wrapping it around the Homecharge unit and then plugging the J1772 connector into the docking station
on the front of the Homecharge unit.
27) Explain the installation to the customer and location of the 32A RCD in the consumer unit.
