Combination lock 7800

2 Mounting
• The combination lock 7800 is a manipulation resistant 3-wheel combination lock with
new features and is very easy to mount. The lock can be mounted in all four direc-
tions (RH, LH, VU, VD).
• When built-in the bolt has to be able to be moved freely.
• You can insert 2 extension latches additionally, for achieving a 3-way-locking.
• Do not take off the lockcover. Otherwise the guarantee expires. The lock is delivered
with the bolt retracted and ready for mounting. Do not move the cam (part with
square hole) or the bolt. During installation the bolt must stay in retracted position
and the cam lined up as shown below.
• The lock can be installed in all conventional safes.
• The electronic lock has to be protected against external attacks.
• The maximum and constantly bolt load F (see Fig. 2) against bolt closing
direction may not exceed 10N.
• Bolt pressure over a short time: from all side max. 1kn.
1 Dials & rings
• Due to the square shaft, the lock is not compatible with dials that have a round,
threaded spindle.
• In case of dials & rings of other manufacturers, please consider during installation
that the entry of the spindle can be turned by a few ticks. This has an influence on
the factory code (50) at the very first opening. After a new code has been set, this has
no effect anymore.
The position of the spindle can be determined as follows: Put a square spindle into
the dial & ring and place the spindle flat on a table edge. Zero is about facing down.
Read the number that now appears on top of the dial. Wittkopp dials & rings show
“45“. Other dials & rings show e.g. “43“ or “50“.
• For mounting the dial & ring see the corresponding Installation instructions.

• Only use the delivered 3 mounting screws (M6 or US 1/4 20G BSW) and fasten as
usual (torque approximately 3.5 Nm). An independent loosening of the screws has
to be avoided. Recommendation: use liquid safety agent.
• Fixing the rosette with 2 screws M4 (vertically or horizontally).
• With the lock in OPEN-position (bolt retracted) turn the dial until
approximately 93* is lined up with the dial’s Opening index and push it
gently into the lock. The shaft cannot be pulled out.
• Turn dial LEFT to extend the bolt. The bolt must easily slide into the final position
and should not be restricted by the bolt work.
• Unauthorised persons should not have access to safety relevant parts of the lock
when the safe is opened.
* this data can vary with the dials & rings of other manufacturers, see page 2

3 Opening
• Use the Opening index (see Operating instructions Fig. 1, p. 2).
Open with factory code “50”*.
Due to installation tolerances it is possible that the code may have shifted up to two
numbers up or down. This shifting is normal and will be eliminated once the code is
re-set. If the lock does not open on “50”, try to open at “48“ then “49”, “51” or
”52”.
* this data can vary with the dials & rings of other manufacturers, see page 2
1.
Turn LEFT and pass “50” three times and stop exactly on “50” on
the Opening index the fourth time.
4 x
2.
Turn RIGHT until the dial stops. The lock is opened.
Change key
• If installers use the same change key to set up several locks, it is important to inspect
the change key on a regular basis. If the change key is bent or shows signs of wear
it needs to be replaced.
• Otherwise the new code will not be set exactly as dialed.

If you turned the dial too far, start over beginning with the first code number.
Try the new code several times (using Opening index) before closing the
door!
4 Changing
• Changing to a new factory combination, for example 10 – 20 – 30.
• Use the Changing index (see Operating instructions p. 3). Before setting a new
combination, open the safe door and close the lock (bolt extended).
1.
Use the Changing index. Dial the old opening code for example
“50“ (or “49“) . Example: Lock opens on “50”
2.
Turn LEFT and pass “50” three times and stop exactly on “50” on
the Changing index the fourth time.
4 x
3.
Use the Changing index (see Operating instructions). Now dial
the new factory combination, for example 10 – 20 – 30.
If you have to dial another code combination, the last
number must be higher than 20.
4.
Turn LEFT and pass “10” three times and stop exactly on “10” on
the Changing index the fourth time.
4 x
5.
Turn RIGHT and pass “20” twice and stop exactly on “20” on the
Changing index the third time.
3 x
6.
Turn LEFT and pass “30” once and stop exactly on “30” on the
Changing index the second time.
2 x
7.
After the new code is completely entered, turn change key LEFT
and remove it. The new code is installed. Deposit the change key
into the safe.

5 What if …
…accidentally the cam got moved before installation:
As long as the factory code “50” has not been changed with the change key, the lock
can be prepared for mounting following the steps below:
…the dial ring turns tight, or slides at the rosette?
Loosen the screw fixing the spindle on the dial & ring and pull the dial & ring slightly
forward. Tighten the screw slightly and if necessary safe screw with LoctiteTM. Paste on
the round label.

1.
Hold the lock so that you look at the cover and the bolt is to the
right.
2.
Turn the cam clockwise minimum 4 complete turns and stop when
the cam is lined up as shown (see Fig. 5).
4 x
3.
Turn cam counter clockwise until lock opens. The cam should be
lined up with the “LOCK OPEN” line on the cover (see Fig. 6).

6 Dimensions/mounting instructions dial & ring
• The provided shaft can be used for door diameters up to 125 mm/5 inch. Measure
the distance (D) between the mounting surfaces of the dial and the lock (see Fig.
1). Cut the shaft in one of the eight provided grooves. Use the table below to
determine in which groove to cut. Do not leave more segments on the shaft than
necessary. Normally no deburring is required.

• Affix the shaft in the square hole with the provided screw in the dial. Make sure the
shaft is seated all the way in the square hole. Cover the screw with the label. Install
the lock first according to the installation instructions.

• The diameter of the spindle hole should be maximum 12 mm (see Fig. 12). Insert the
round spring washer and the ring as shown (see Fig. 13). Mount the dial plate
with two M4 or 8-32“screws (not included) so that the opening index is at 12:00
position.
• With the lock in OPEN position (bolt retracted) hold the dial in a way that approximately
“93” is lined up with the opening index and push it with some pressure into the
lock (see Fig. 14). This will also connect the dial to the dial-ring and the dial cannot
be removed.
