5 SETTING LIMITS - MODEL T
Limits are acceptable tolerance levels as defined by the user allowing
the user to compare readings to pre-defined values.
Limits can either be created for individual
readings or when a new batch is opened,
see Sections 5.1 and 5.2. Different batches
can have different limit values.
Each limit can consist of a nominal or target
NDFT value (x:), a low (
) and / or high
(
) limit value.
5 SETTING LIMITS - MODEL T (continued)
5.1 CREATING LIMITS FOR INDIVIDUAL READINGS
1
Press Menu/Set Limits/Set Upper (or ‘Set Lower’).
2
Use the
softkeys to set the required value and press ‘Ok’.
3
If required, repeat Step 2 for ‘Set Lower’ (or ‘Set Upper’) and
‘Set NDFT’.
4
Press ‘Back’ to revert to the main menu.
5.2 CREATING LIMITS FOR A NEW BATCH
1
Press Batch/New Batch/Batch Limits/Set Limits/Set Upper
(or ‘Set Lower’).
2
Follow Steps 2-4 in Section 5.1 above.
If a measurement is taken which falls outside
set and enabled limits, the appropriate limit
icon and the reading value turn red, the red
LED flashes and the alarm beeps.
To disable set and enabled limits:
1
Press Menu/Set Limits.
2
Use the
softkeys to select ‘Enable Limits’.
3
Press ‘Select’ to uncheck the ‘Enable Limits’ radio button.
6 TAKING A READING
6.1 BEFORE YOU START
1
Press the On/Off button to switch the gauge on.
2
Select the measurement units - see Section 4.5 on page en-5.
3
Select the calibration profile range - see Section 4.6 on page en-5.
4
Select the display mode - see Section 6.2 below.
6.2 SELECTING THE DISPLAY MODE
The Elcometer 456 IPC has two display modes:
Individual Readings Mode: each individual reading is displayed.
:
Mean (xbar) Reading Mode readings
are taken in groups of three. When
the third reading is taken, the average
(mean, xbar) of the three readings is
displayed on the right hand side.
Note: When in Batching (Model T only), only the
average of each set of three readings is saved
in the batch memory and used to calculate
batch statistics.
6.3 TAKING A READING
1
Whilst holding the gauge perpendicular, gently pl ace the probe
onto the surface.
Do not drag the probe across the surface or bang the probe down hard onto
the surface as this will damage the probe tip resulting in inaccurate readings.
‘>1500µm’ (’>60mils’) indicates a reading over the probe range.
2
For subsequent readings, lift the probe off and then replace it
onto the coated surface.
Do not allow the probe to hover over the surface as this could result in a false
reading.
When using ‘Mean (xbar) Reading Mode’, the first reading taken is
displayed next to ‘1', the second next to ‘2' etc. When the third reading
has been taken, the average (mean, xbar) of the three individual
readings displayed is shown (X:).
The average (mean, xbar) reading is cleared when a fourth reading is
taken.
Note: When in Batching (Model T only), only the average of each set of three readings
is saved in the batch memory and used to calculate batch statistics.
6 TAKING A READING (continued)
www.elcometer.com
en-8

6.4 DELETING THE LAST READING
To delete the last reading, press Menu/Delete Last Reading.
When using ‘Mean (xbar) Reading Mode’, repeat this process to delete
the previous reading. Only readings in the current group of three can
be deleted.
If three readings have been taken and the average (mean, xbar)
reading is displayed, deleting readings will clear the average (mean,
xbar) value.
7 BATCHING - MODEL T

page fr-5.
4
Sélectionnez le mode d'affichage - voir Section 6.2 ci-dessous.
6.2 SÉLECTIONNER LE MODE D'AFFICHAGE
L'Elcometer 456 IPC possède deux modes d'affichage :
Mode Mesures Individuelle : chaque mesure est affichée individuellement.
Mode Mesure Moyenne : l'instrument

3
Kies het kalibratie-profielbereik – zie Sectie 4.6 op pagina nl-5.
4
Selecteer de weergavemodus – zie Sectie 6.2 hieronder.
6.2 DE WEERGAVEMODUS SELECTEREN
De Elcometer 456 IPC heeft twee weergavemodi:
Individuele Meet Modus: elke individuele meting wordt getoond.
Gemiddelde (xbar) Meet Modus:
metingen worden verricht in groepjes van
drie.
1
