A. video input: If an external camera is connected
to your MATRIX, the Button ext is displayed in red. Se-
lected buttons are always displayed in red. You can
choose between the video inputs composite (Cmp)
and S-Video (Y/C).
If you have selected the button "Auto" (i.e. the button
is displayed in red colour), the MATRIX detects the
video input automatically. If an SNK PTZ or the Revol-
ver 80 camera is connected, the option Int (i.e. inter-
nal camera, e.g. SNK PTZ) is selected automatically. If
int is selected, all other choices are faded out (i.e.
"video input" (A) and "video format" (B)). The SNK PTZ
or the Revolver 80 camera is now ready for use.
B. video format: The video format can only be
changed if an external camera is connected. You can
choose between Global (PAL) and NTSC.
C. Adjust consecutional recording: The option "Ad-
just consecutional recording" allows you to set a time
limit for your recordings. This increases your work ef-
ficiency and avoids a full hard drive. Select the on-
Button first, then select your desired recording time
via the buttons - and + (five to 99 seconds).
d. picture quality: True and accurate presentation,
no loss of quality and no colour distortions. Different
video formats allow both quick and easy handling of
your recordings and loss-free data acquisition.
Your MATRIX saves data compact and fast and is com-
patible with common industry standards. Choose
between the formats Bmp or Jpg by pressing the re-
spective buttons on your touchscreen.

Bmp: Digital image format that saves your image files
loss-free (uncompressed). If you want to save detail-
led recordings or smallest details or if data security
plays a big role, recording in BMP is the best choice.
Due to the fact that your images are recorded un-
compressed, the images are relatively big in size.
Make sure that enough memory is available. Also
keep in mind that the transfer to external data car-
riers can take a fairly long time. Your MATRIX is equip-
ped with a fast processor and enormous storage for
thousands of images in BMP format.
Jpg: Here, you can choose between three different
quality levels: "low", "medium" and "high". The higher
the compression, the lower the file size and the hig-
her the loss of image information.
e. movie quality: Select video format and video
quality here. You can chosse between the formats AVI
and MPEG4. You can choose between three different
quality levels: "low", "medium" and "high".
Avi: Video files in AVI file format are optimised for PC
playback (deinterlaced).

for TV playback (interlaced).

ted here by default. If you have a USB drive connec-

The MATRIX allows you to choose the data storage
device. This optimizes your workflow, file manage-
ment and further processing, thus saving you valu-
able time.
There are three different ways to save your data:
1. internal: Save to the SSD that is integrated into
your MATRIX. This option is set by default. You do not
need to make any changes.
2. internal and external: Save your data both to the
bulit-in SSD and to a USB drive. To use this option, a
USB stick must be connected to your MATRIX.
3. external: Save your data to a USB drive only. Con-
nect a USB drive to your MATRIX to use this option.
viZaar® recommends usB drives with a
writing speed of at least 17mB/second.
With slower usB drives, quality may be
impaired.
Once you have selected a saving
method via usb drive ("internal and
external" or "external"), a button
appears in the operation menu at the
bottom right of the image with which
you can return directly to the
"camera and recording settings"
submenu of the main menu.

storing it first to the internal SSD. To do this, press the
button on the far right below "Select data memory"
in the "Camera and recording settings" submenu.
The display shows that the data is being synchroni-
zed. This does not mean that all photos and videos
have been copied from the SSD to the USB drive; only
that the USB drive is recognized by the system as the
only hard disk.
Once synchronization is complete, you can switch to
the operation menu and start recording. All data is
now stored to the USB drive. A USB button now ap-

option: BAttery AdApter
By using the optional battery adapter, your MATRIX
system can be used without being dependent on
mains power. This gives you higher mobility and fle-
xibility when working on site. The best NiMH battery
on the market offers maximum performance and
safety. Compared to similar lithium-ion batteries, it
offers maximum protection against spontaneous
ignition and fire. The working time with the battery
depends on the probe, its age, charging status, use
and ambient temperature. The average running time
is between one and two hours (depending on the ap-
plication). Additional replacement batteries can also
be purchased. To get the most out of your system
and give your battery a long life, we recommend cor-
rect use and maintenance as prescribed in chapters
7.1.4-7.1.6.
To connect the battery adapter to your MATRIX,
proceed as follows:
1. Grasp the battery adapter (Fig. 1) by the handles
on the left and right and insert it into the slot (2). Pay
attention to the connections of the adapter while
inserting!

pay attention to the connections
of the adapter while inserting the
adapter!
Even though the battery is a product of highest qua-
lity, its service life is limited. The performance of the
battery decreases with its age. The performance and
the service life of the battery also depends on how it
is charged and discharged. Furthermore, the opera-
ting conditions also play a role on the battery’s ser-
vice life. The best performance is reached at the
usual room temperature.
Before using your MATRIX for the first time and du-
ring the first five cycles, make sure that the battery is
fully charged and then discharged. This maximizes
the capacity of your battery.

In case the battery will not be used for long periods
of time, disconnect it from your MATRIX base unit and
store it in a dry environment. Even a fully charged bat-
tery loses power when stored. Fully recharge your
battery before using it again for an inspection.

The bars 1, 2 and 3 of the battery display light up
blue. Bar 4 lights red. When the battery discharges,
bar 1 begins to glow dark blue before it fades out.
When bar 3 starts to glow dark blue, bar 4 starts flas-
hing red and a warning appears on the touch screen
(about 12 minutes before the battery dies). If solely
bar 4 is flashing, it takes about 30 seconds until your
MATRIX system switches off automatically.

To charge the battery, connect it to the charger. The
charger must be set to "ON" to start the charging pro-
cess. The charging time is about four to five hours. In
order to charge the battery, you must remove it from
the system and connect it to the mains using the
cable supplied.

disposAl of the BAttery
After the battery life has expired, please return the
battery to the manufacturer. We are happy to gua-
rantee correct and appropriate disposal.
Only charge the battery with the
corresponding charger. do not use
universal chargers.
Only use batteries provided by the
manufacturer.
do not expose the battery to direct
sunlight for long periods of time.
never allow the battery to heat up
above the specified operating tempe-
rature.
never directly expose the battery to
liquids or rain.
never open the battery casing under
any circumstances.
use the battery only with your
MatriX system.
never dispose of the battery in your
normal waste. follow local environ-
mental guidances on battery disposal
accordingly.
When connecting and disconnecting the system
cable, make sure that no water gets into the connec-
tions, as this could result in a possible damage of the
device. Therefore, the presence and correct seating
of the O-ring in the cable system connector should
be checked. The cable can be connected and discon-
nected during the inspection, though you should go
back to the main menu to do so. Attach the system
cable connector securely to the camera connector so
that no water can enter.
Alternatively, the camera can be operated without
kevlar poles, but on the system cable only. The strain
relief should be used to relieve the system plug (as
shown in figure 4). The strain relief is mounted to the
camera head using the same screws as the U-adap-
ter. Ensure that any tensile forces that occur are
transmitted via the strain relief and not via the system
plug (see Fig. 4).

1. Before inserting the camera into a deep underwa-
ter application, test it first in a water container. Small
air bubbles indicate incorrect water tightness. We re-
commend a product service. Alternatively, a leak can
be detected if a pressure loss of 1 bar outside the
water occurs within one hour.
2. In general, if using the SNK camera head for a lon-
ger period of time under water, it is recommended
to operate the SNK with overpressure.

cable, make sure that no water gets into the connec-
tions, as this could result in a possible damage of the
device. The cable can be connected and disconnec-
ted during the inspection, though you should go back
to the main menu to do so. Attach the system cable
connector securely to the camera connector so that
no water can enter.
The Revolver 80 camera was developed to inspect
inner pipe walls and inner wall surfaces, pipes and
other cavities. For this reason, the side view camera
has autofocus, zoom and high-resolution camera
technology. The front camera was designed for navi-
gation and orientation and is equipped with fewer
functions and lower resolution. The Revolver 80 is not
designed for inspections of pipes with multiple
bends.
