For best results, pre-heat the glass beaker with hot water to maximize the heat retention. Start with freshly roasted coffee and grind only as much coffee at one time as you need to brew for each pot. 1. Fill in ground coffee at your liking TIP: Always use coarse ground coffee when brewing with a Bodum coffee press. TIP: Add one level Bodum scoop (7 grams, 0.25 oz) of coarse ground coffee per 1.2dl/4oz cup of water to the beaker. TIP: Adjust the amount of coffee to taste. TIP:: To reach the perfect temperature, bring the water to a full boil and then allow it to rest for 30 seconds before pouring. 2. The glass beaker, made of borosilicate glass, is made of two parts. The inner beaker is our standard borosilicate machine made beaker. The outer layer is mouth-blown using a mold. The two layers are joined together on the top by hand. Borosilicate glass substitutes boron oxide in place of the soda and lime used in traditional glassware. The boron oxide acts as a glue holding the silicate together and due to the small size of boron particles, the glass is held together tighter, resulting in a stronger glass.
