Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
Step 3: You should see the liquid begin moving up the suction
hose. If you don’t see liquid moving up the hose or you didn’t
feel suction on your finger, turn the water off. Open a valve
downstream to release the pressure.
Step 2: Then, check to see if you feel suction on your finger.
If so, just cut 1/2” off your suction hose and reattach.
NOTE: To service your Dosatron D45RE15, you will need a strap
wrench, a # 1 and 2 phillips head screw driver, a flat blade screw
driver and needle nose pliers.
Step 1: To begin, make sure the strainer is clear of debris. While
the unit is still installed, turn the water on. Unscrew and remove
the suction hose nut and hose.

Step 6: Pull the injection stem assembly straight down and out of
the lower housing.
Step 5: Now, unscrew the four screws around the injection sleeve.
Step 4: Unscrew the suction hose nut and remove the suction
hose. Set both aside.
D45RE15 Troubleshooting - Part 1
Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
Step 9: If you see damage, or don’t remember the last time
you changed the plunger seal, consider changing the seal
(Part #: J009) now. To change the plunger seal, pinch and roll it off
of the plunger.
Step 8: Take a close look at the plunger seal for knicks, scratches,
or ware.
Step 7: Grasp the plunger and pull it straight down.
D45RE15 Troubleshooting - Part 1
Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
Step 12: Hand tighten the screws carefully.
Step 11: To reinstall the injection stem, slide it into the lower
housing and align the four screws and the metal retainer into
the body.
Step 10: Install the new seal into the groove onto the plunger.
D45RE15 Troubleshooting - Part 1
Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
Step 13: Now, thread the suction hose nut onto the hose, slide the
hose onto the barb and hand tighten the nut. Slowly, turn the water
on and your injector should now be drawing the concentrate.
D45RE15 Troubleshooting - Part 1
Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
D45RE15 Troubleshooting - Part 2
Step 2: Unscrew and remove the check valve barb.
Step 1: If your injector is pushing water down into the concentrate
tank, it’s time to investigate the check valve. To do this remove the
hose nut and hose and set aside.
Step 3: Remove the check valve seal (Part #: J051),
cone (Part #: M072) and spring (Part #: P170).
Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
D45RE15 Troubleshooting - Part 2
Step 6: Now, position the new check valve seal with the groove
side up inside the check valve barb.
Step 5: Insert the new check valve spring into the new cone and
press it into the stem.
Step 4: Inspect all the check valve parts. If they are dirty, you may
be able to soak, brush off, and reinstall. If you see damage or you
don’t remember the last time you changed these parts, now is a
good time to replace them.
Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
D45RE15 Troubleshooting - Part 2
Step 9: Slide it onto the barb and hand tighten the nut. This should
stop the water from dripping back into the concentrate tank.
Step 8: Thread the suction hose nut onto the hose.
Step 7: Hand tighten.
Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
D45RE15 Troubleshooting - Part 3
Step 2: Using the strap wrench, loosen the body nut and remove.
Step 1: Unscrew and remove the suction hose nut and hose.
Step 3: Pull the lower housing straight down.
This D45RE15 Troubleshooting will cover: The injector isn’t clicking.
Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
D45RE15 Troubleshooting - Part 3
Step 5: Inspect the white valve support on the bottom.
Step 4: Lift the piston up and out of the lower housing.
Set the lower housing aside.
Step 6: Press the push rod down and press the two actuator
springs (Part #: M221) on the top. If they are broken or missing,
they will have to be replaced.
Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
D45RE15 Troubleshooting - Part 3
Step 7: You can check the piston shell two ways. First, by
inspecting the upper and lower flanges to see if they are
worn or have deep scratches.
Step 8: The second test is to check the piston shell’s fit inside the
housing. To do this slide the piston into the upper housing.
It should be a snug fit.
Step 9: Now, slide the piston into the lower housing. It should also
be a snug fit. If it feels loose or it is worn, the piston shell needs to
be replaced (Part #: MPDI170).
Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
D45RE15 Troubleshooting - Part 3
Step 11: Then, remove the four screws around the plunger rod.
Step 10: To replace the piston shell, use the # 1 screw driver and
remove the valve support screw and plastic retainer.
Step 12: Press the push rod up.
Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
D45RE15 Troubleshooting - Part 3
Step 14: Next, remove the four screws in the center of the piston
shell to release the actuator assembly.
Step 13: Pry the valve support off of the inlet valve with a flat
blade screw driver and set aside.
Step 15: Pull the actuator assembly out and discard the old
piston shell.
Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
D45RE15 Troubleshooting - Part 3
Step 17: Then, position the actuator assembly in the shell as
shown and hold firmly.
Step 16: Using the needle nosed pliers, position the four screws
in the center of the new piston shell.
Step 18: Now, hand tighten the four screws in a star pattern.
Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
D45RE15 Troubleshooting - Part 3
Step 20: Reinstall the valve support by sliding it onto the
inlet valve.
Step 19: Press the white plastic portion of the actuator side by
side. If there is movement, retighten the screws.
Step 21: Next, position the retainer and hand tighten the screw.
Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
D45RE15 Troubleshooting - Part 3
Step 23: Carefully hand tighten them in a star pattern.
Step 22: Then reinstall the four screws in the black plastic
retainer and align the pin in the plunger rod as shown.
Step 24: Test the piston by pressing the push rod from the top
and bottom. It should click each time.
Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
D45RE15 Troubleshooting - Part 3
Step 26: Carefully slide the piston into the lower housing
about half way.
Note: This step is very important. Inspect the large o-ring in
the groove on the top of the lower housing.
Step 25: To finish up, make sure the push rod is in the
down position.
