Slide the bowl forward until the
center stud clears the front plate
on the front of the bowl.
Carefully remove the bowl assem-
bly from the machine. Lift up on
the bowl assembly until the bottom
studs clear the machine. Then pull
out slowly as far as the wires will
allow.

Unplug the two wires shown from
the bowl circuit board.
Unplug both encoder
and power wires from
bowl circuit board.

The bowl wiring should come out
smoothly with the bowl. If there is
resistance from the wires don’t pull
on them as this might damage other
components of the machine.
NOTE: The wiring is bundled with
cable ties. They can get caught on
the opening in the base bracket as
the wiring is pulled out. Wiggling
the wires while pulling avoids this.

Installing the bowl
Peel the backing from the strips of
4” tape (Included) and place them
in the bowl bracket as shown. If the
tape is already installed and in good
condition, this step is not necessary.
Remove the 2 Phillips screws from
the front of the old bowl and in-
stall them into the new bowl. Don’t
screw them all the way in, leave
them as far out as possible for now.
Tape
Locate the 3 bowl stud slots in the
bowl plate on the machine and on
the bottom of the bowl assembly.
NOTE: Make sure three plastic
washers included with the assembly
are in place on each of the align-
ment studs on the bottom of the
bowl.

Compress the foam around the
sorter bowl opening in the platen
then lower the sorter bowl down so
that the 3 studs fit into the 3 slots
on the machine.
NOTE: Make sure the front stud
clears the tab on the front of the
bowl bracket.
Bowl Foam
Install the front bowl nut to hold
the bowl in place but don’t tighten
the nut. You will tighten the nut
later during the alignment process.
Front Center Nut
Once the bowl is sitting in the slots,
slide it back until the stud goes
through the hole in the front of the
bowl plate.
Once the bowl is in place, tuck the
foam into the gap between the bowl
and the body to make sure it is not
sticking up too high.

8 Flip the machine on its back and
install the 3 nuts that hold the bowl
in the machine.
NOTE: If a torque wrench is available,
tighten the 3x nuts to 3 in-lbs. Other-
wise tighten the nuts until they stop
turning easily (no looseness in the bowl
assy), then loosen them 1/6th of a turn
so that the bowl will slide easily in the
base bracket.

The nuts are correctly tightened
when the bowl slides in and out
with light resistance without allow-
ing the bowl to be lifted up. Test
this when the machine is rotated
back to normal operating position in
the next step. Check tightness care-
fully before further assembly.
The bowl should slide up and down
smoothly before returning the machine
to normal operating position.
If the bowls rotate normally during power on then power off the machine and disconnect the
power cable to install the bottom cover by reversing steps 1-3 in the earlier section Preparing to
Disassemble. Consult the Bowl Alignment Procedure to align the bowls with the C-stick and com-
plete the installation.

10 Flip the machine back to its normal
operating position and reconnect
the power cable.
Install wheels in the new bowl and
power on the CrystalPress to make
sure the new bowl rotates as it
should. If it doesn’t rotate after
power on there is a problem with
the connection to the logic board.
Check connections and test again.
Contact Ioline Customer Support for
additional help.
There should be no play
at all when lifting up
on the bowl (when the
machine is rotated back
to a normal operating
position)
