Le système doit être vidangé avec de l'azote exempt d'oxygène pour rendre l'élément sûr. Ce processus peut devoir être répété plusieurs fois. Ne pas utiliser d'air comprimé ou d'oxygène pour cette tâche. Le vidangeage doit être obtenu en coupant le vide dans le système avec de l'azote exempt d'oxygène et en continuant de remplir jusqu'à ce que la pression de service soit atteinte, puis en ventilant dans l'atmosphère puis finalement en réalisant le vide. Ce processus doit être répété jusqu'à ce qu'il n'y ait plus de fluide frigorigène dans le système. Lorsque la charge finale d'azote exempt d'oxygène est utilisée, le système doit être ramené à la pression atmosphérique pour permettre le déroulement des opérations. Cette opération est absolument vitale si des opérations de brasage doivent avoir lieu sur les tuyauteries. S'assurer que la sortie de la pompe d'évacuation n'est pas proche d'une source d'inflammation et qu'il existe une ventilation. - Procédures de chargement En plus des procédures de chargement conventionnelles, les exigences suivantes doivent être respectées. S'assurer qu'il ne se produit pas de contamination de différents fluides frigorigènes au cours de l'utilisation de l'équipement de chargement. Les tuyaux ou les conduites doivent être aussi courts que possible pour minimiser la quantité de fluide frigorigène qu'ils contiennent. Les bouteilles doivent être maintenues en position verticale. S'assurer que le système de réfrigération est relié à la terre avant de charger le système avec le fluide frigorigène. Etiqueter le système lorsque le chargement est terminé (si cela n'est pas déjà fait). Veiller à ne pas laisser déborder le système de réfrigération. Avant de procéder au rechargement du système, sa pression doit être essayée avec de l'azote exempt d'oxygène. Le système doit subir les essais de fuite à la fin du chargement mais avant la mise en service. Un essai de fuite doit être réalisé avant de quitter le site. - Mise hors service Avant d'effectuer cette procédure, il est essentiel que le technicien soit parfaitement familiarisé avec l'équipement dans tous ses détails. Une bonne pratique recommandée consiste à récupérer tous les fluides frigorigènes de manière sûre. Avant de réaliser cette tâche, un échantillon d'huile et de fluide frigorigène doit être prélevé au cas où une analyse serait demandée avant la ré-utilisation du fluide frigorigène récupéré. Il est essentiel de disposer d'énergie électrique avant de commencer cette tâche. a. Se familiariser avec l'équipement et son fonctionnement. b. Isoler électriquement le système. c. Avant d'entamer la procédure, s'assurer de ce qui suit: des équipements de manipulation mécanique sont disponibles, si nécessaire, pour manipuler les bouteilles de fluide frigorigène; tout l'équipement de protection personnel est disponible et est utilisé de manière correcte;

SERVICE OPERATIONS This document describes the precautions for use by personnel responsible for service operations. Any person required to work on a refrigerant circuit should hold a valid and up-to-date certificate from an assessment authority accredited by the industry and recognising his competence to handle refrigerants safely, in accordance with the assessment specification recognised in the industry sector concerned. Service operations must only be carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the equipment manufacturer. Maintenance and repair operations requiring the assistance of other qualified persons must be carried out under the supervision of the person competent for the use of flammable refrigerants. - Checking the area: Before starting work on systems containing flammable refrigerants, safety checks are necessary to ensure that the risk of ignition is reduced. For repairs to the refrigeration system, the following precautions must be observed before working on the system. - Intervention procedure Interventions must be undertaken as part of a controlled procedure in order to minimise the risk of flammable gas or vapour during the work.

- General work area

All maintenance personnel and other persons working in the local area must be informed of the nature of the work performed. Any work in confined spaces must be avoided. The area surrounding the workspace must be divided into sections. Ensure that conditions within the area have been made safe by controlling flammable materials. - Checking the presence of refrigerants The area must be checked with an appropriate refrigerant detector before and during the work to ensure that the technician is aware of the existence of potentially explosive atmospheres. Ensure that the leak detection equipment used is suitable for use with flammable refrigerants, i.e. it does not produce sparks, is properly sealed and is intrinsically safe. - Presence of fire extinguishers If work causing heat is to be carried out on refrigeration equipment or its associated parts, appropriate fire protection equipment must be available within easy reach. A dry powder or CO2 extinguisher must be located near the loading area. - Absence of ignition sources No person performing work related to a refrigeration system involving the exposure of pipes that contain or have contained flammable refrigerants shall use ignition sources in a manner that may lead to a risk of fire or explosion. All possible sources of ignition, including a person smoking a cigarette, should be located far enough from the installation, repair, removal and disposal site during the period when the flammable refrigerant can flow into the surrounding space. Before carrying out the work, the area surrounding the equipment must be examined to ensure that there are no dangers or risks of ignition. "No smoking" signs should be displayed. - Ventilated areas Make sure that the area is outdoors or adequately ventilated before working on the system or performing any work that causes heat. A ventilation of a given degree must continue during the work. Ventilation should safely disperse any refrigerant emitted and preferably expel it to the outside into the atmosphere. - Audits of refrigeration equipment When electrical components are changed, they must be adapted to their intended use and to the correct specification. The manufacturer's maintenance and service guidelines must be followed at all times. In case of doubt, consult the manufacturer's technical support service. The following checks shall be applied to installations using flammable refrigerants: - The size of the charge is in accordance with the size of the room in which the elements containing a refrigerant are installed; - the machinery and ventilation valves are working properly and are not obstructed; - if an indirect refrigeration circuit is used, the secondary circuit must be checked for the

presence of refrigerant;

- the marking of the equipment continues to be visible and legible. Marks and symbols that are illegible must be corrected; - the refrigeration pipe or components are installed in a position where they are not likely to be exposed to a substance that may corrode elements containing refrigerants, unless these elements are constructed with materials that are inherently resistant to corrosion or that are adequately protected against corrosion. - Checking of electrical devices Repair and maintenance operations on electrical components must include initial safety checks and component inspection procedures. In the presence of a fault that may compromise safety, no power supply shall be connected to the circuit until the fault has been satisfactorily addressed. If the defect cannot be corrected immediately but it is necessary to continue the operations, an appropriate temporary solution must be used. This should be communicated to the owner of the equipment so that all parties involved are aware of it. Initial security checks should include: - checking that the capacitors are discharged: this must be done in a safe way to avoid any possibility of sparks; - Verification that no live electrical components or wiring are exposed during charging, recovery or purging of the system; - verification that there is continuity of the equipotential bonding to earth. - Repairs of hermetic components During repairs of hermetic components, all power supplies must be disconnected from the equipment undergoing operations before any removal of hermetic covers, etc. If it is absolutely necessary to supply the equipment with electricity during service operations, a continuously operating leak detection device must be located at the most critical point to give warning in case of a potentially dangerous situation. Particular attention should be paid to the following to ensure that when working on electrical components, the enclosure is not altered in a way that alters the level of protection. This should include damage to cables, excessive number of connections, terminals that do not meet the original specification, damage to seals, incorrect adjustment of cable entries, etc. Make sure that the unit is mounted safely. Ensure that the joints or sealing materials have not degraded to the point of no longer preventing the penetration of flammable atmospheres. Spare parts must comply with the manufacturer's specifications, NOTE: The use of a silicone sealant can inhibit the effectiveness of certain types of leak detection equipment. Intrinsically safe components do not have to be isolated before undergoing a procedure - Repair of intrinsically safe components Do not apply inductive loads or permanent capacities to the circuit without ensuring that it will not exceed the permissible voltage and current allowed for the equipment used.

Intrinsically safe components are the only types that can be worked on when they are

energised in a flammable atmosphere. The test equipment must have the correct rated characteristics. Replace components only with parts specified by the manufacturer. Other parts can cause the refrigerant to ignite in the atmosphere as a result of a leak. - Cabling Check that the wiring will not be subjected to wear, corrosion, excessive pressure, vibration, sharp edges or any other adverse environmental effects. The verification must also take into account the effects of aging or continuous vibration from sources such as compressors or fans. - Detection of flammable refrigerants Under no circumstances should potential ignition sources be used to search for or detect refrigerant leaks. A haloid lamp (or any other detector using an open flame) must not be used. - Leak detection methods The following leak detection methods are considered acceptable for systems containing flammable refrigerants. Electronic leak detectors must be used to detect flammable refrigerants, but their sensitivity may not be adequate or may require recalibration. (Detection equipment must be calibrated in an area without refrigerant.) Ensure that the detector is not a potential source of ignition and is suitable for the refrigerant used. The leak detection equipment must be set to a percentage LFL of the refrigerant and must be calibrated to the fluid used and the appropriate percentage of gas (maximum 25%) is confirmed. Leak detection fluids are suitable for use with most refrigerants, but the use of detergents containing chlorine should be avoided as chlorine can react with the refrigerant and corrode the copper piping. In the event of a suspected leak, all open flames must be eliminated/extinguished. If a refrigerant leak is found and brazing is required, all the refrigerant in the system must be recovered or isolated (by means of shut-off valves) in a part of the system remote from the leak. The oxygen-free nitrogen must then be purged through the system both before and during the brazing process. - Removal and evacuation When working on the refrigerant circuit for repairs - or for any other purpose - conventional procedures must be used. However, it is important to follow best practice as flammability is a concern. The following procedure must be followed: - remove the refrigerant; - purge the circuit with an inert gas; - proceed with the evacuation; - purge again with an inert gas; - open the circuit by cutting or soldering.

The refrigerant charge must be collected in correct recovery bottles. The system must be

drained with oxygen-free nitrogen to make the element safe. This process may have to be repeated several times. Do not use compressed air or oxygen for this task. Drainage must be achieved by cutting the vacuum in the system with oxygen-free nitrogen and continuing to fill until the operating pressure is reached, then venting into the atmosphere and finally creating the vacuum. This process must be repeated until there is no refrigerant left in the system. When the final oxygen-free nitrogen charge is used, the system must be returned to atmospheric pressure to allow operations to proceed. This operation is absolutely vital if brazing operations are to take place on the pipes. Make sure that the outlet of the exhaust pump is not close to an ignition source and that there is ventilation. - Loading procedures In addition to conventional loading procedures, the following requirements must be met. Ensure that no contamination of different refrigerants occurs during the use of the loading equipment. The pipes or ducts should be as short as possible to minimise the amount of refrigerant they contain. The bottles must be kept in an upright position. Ensure that the refrigeration system is grounded before charging the system with the refrigerant. Label the system when loading is complete (if not already done). Be careful not to allow the refrigeration system to overflow. Before recharging the system, its pressure must be tested with oxygen-free nitrogen. The system shall be leak tested at the end of loading but before commissioning. A leak test must be performed before leaving the site. - Decommissioning of the appliance Before performing this procedure, it is essential that the technician is fully familiar with the equipment in all its details. A good recommended practice is to recover all refrigerants safely. Before performing this task, an oil and refrigerant sample must be taken in case an analysis is required before the recovered refrigerant is re-used. It is essential to have electrical power before starting this task. a. Become familiar with the equipment and its operation. b. Electrically isolate the system. c. Before starting the procedure, ensure that the following is in place: mechanical handling equipment is available, if necessary, to handle refrigerant bottles; all personal protective equipment is available and is used correctly; the recovery process is supervised at all times by a competent person; the recovery equipment and cylinders meet appropriate standards. d. Pump the refrigerant system, if possible. e. If a vacuum is not possible, a collector is made to collect the refrigerant from different parts of the system. f. Ensure that the cylinder is located on the scale before recovery begins. g. Start the recovery machine and operate it in accordance with the manufacturer's

h. Do not allow the bottles to overflow. (Not more than 80% of liquid charge by volume).

i. Do not exceed the maximum working pressure of the cylinder, even temporarily. j. When the cylinders have been properly filled and the process is complete, ensure that the cylinders and equipment are removed from the site quickly and that all equipment isolation valves are closed. k. The recovered refrigerant must not be loaded into another refrigeration system unless it has been cleaned and checked. - Labelling A label must be affixed to the equipment indicating that it has been taken out of service and drained of its refrigerant. This label must be dated and signed. Ensure that there are labels on equipment indicating that it contains flammable refrigerants. - Recuperation When draining a system of its refrigerant for service or shutdown operations, it is recommended good practice to safely remove all refrigerants. When transferring refrigerants into the cylinders, ensure that only appropriate recovery cylinders are used. Ensure that the correct number of cylinders is available to hold the entire system load. All bottles to be used are designated for the recovered refrigerant and are labelled for this refrigerant (i.e. special bottles for refrigerant recovery). Cylinders must be equipped with a pressure relief valve and associated shut-off valves in good working order. Empty recovery cylinders are evacuated and, if possible, cooled before recovery begins. Recovery equipment must be in good working order and accompanied by instructions regarding the equipment that is within reach and must be adapted to the recovery of flammable refrigerants. In addition, a set of calibrated scales for weighing must be available and in good working order. The hoses must be equipped with leak-proof disconnection sleeves and be in good condition. Before using the recovery machine, check that it is in good working order and has been properly maintained and that all associated electrical components are sealed to prevent ignition in the event of refrigerant release. In case of doubt, consult the manufacturer. The recovered refrigerant must be returned to its supplier in the correct recovery bottle and the corresponding waste transfer note must be established. Do not mix refrigerants in recovery units and in particular in bottles. If compressors or compressor oils must be removed, ensure that they have been evacuated to an acceptable level to ensure that no flammable refrigerant remains in the lubricant. The evacuation process must be completed before returning the compressor to its supplier. Only an electric heater should be used on the compressor body to accelerate this process. When oil is extracted from a system, it must be done safely.

Verwijder het koelmiddel;
