! ATTENZIONE! Rischio di scossa elettrica o folgorazione. ! ! ATTENZIONE!

MOTORE A SCOPPIO CICLO 4 TEMPI (4T) ! ! ATTENZIONE! 5. Riavvitare a fondo il tappo ruotandolo in senso orario. 6. 5. Avvitare bene il tappo ruotando in senso orario. 6. AVVIAMENTO A MOTORE FREDDO (fig.E) 1. 1.

5. Commutare l’interruttore di linea in “I – ON” e accendere l’utilizzatore. PRESA DC12V CARICABATTERIE ! ! ATTENZIONE!

ATTENZIONE!

This generates a certain voltage at its terminals and therefore the electric control panel sockets. The electricity produced and its quality depend on the engine’s power and regularity of operation. This machine’s standard system must consist of: generator, generator ground line (by qualified elec- trician), electric transport line with safety electric control panel (in compliance with legislation in force) and compatible electrical load. INSTALLATION ! ! IMPORTANT! The manufacturer is not liable for any direct and/or indirect damage caused by incorrect installation or electrical connection. ! ! IMPORTANT! Wear protective gloves and goggles when handling the battery (where fitted), the fuel and the lubricating oil. TRANSPORT Always use the packaging when transporting the generator; this will protect it from impact, dust and humidity which can compromise its normal operation. Before putting it into the packaging it must have completely cooled to ambient temperature and all the fuel must have been removed from the tank. Do not leave the generator or fuel tank inside the vehicle; fuel vapours can cause an explosion. HANDLING The generator must only be moved with the engine off and the plug(s) disconnected from the electric control panel. For moving it hold tightly onto the hand grip and, after lifting, put it down without banging it. SWITCHING ON When choosing where to use the generator, the following should be considered: - the floor needs to be flat - the area must not be damp, must be protected from atmospheric agents and must not be ex- posed to direct sunlight - the area must not be for pedestrian or foot traffic - there must be a large operating area free from obstacles, at least 2 metres from all obstacles - the environment needs to be as open and as well ventilated as possible to evacuate exhaust gases dispersed in the air - there needs to be good lighting - the ambient temperature needs to be maximum 40°C - the altitude above sea level must be maximum 1,000 m - the environment is not in a flammable/explosive atmosphere

Take out the generator and components and visually check that they are perfectly intact; now carefully clean it and perform all the operations indicated below. Note: the earth cables and extension cables are not included with the generator. GENERATOR EARTH RETURN ! ! IMPORTANT! Risk of electric shock and electrocution. ! ! IMPORTANT! For electrical safety the generator must be connected to a permanent earth return system, through a connection to the terminal marked with the symbol (pos.11). ! ! The earth cable is not included with the genera- tor and before performing any operation consult the “Warnings” in these instructions. To set up this system, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to do it yourselves. Do not connect other appliances to this earth return. Do not use the generator if there is no earth return. EXTENSION CABLE The extension cable is not included with the genera- tor, but it is an essential component for transporting electrical energy to the user (lighting, electrical tool, etc.). For its purchase and use, contact a qualified electrician who will be able to advise you. Fundamental elements for the choice are: - watertight for use outdoors - equipped with an earth cable (if the user is a class I appliance, i.e. with an earth cable, it is not to be confused with the generator earth return) - a suitable section for each conductor so as to prevent overheating with the risk of fire - not excessively long so as to prevent voltage drops When using the extension cable: - completely uncoil the cable reel preventing tangles - keep it far from water, damp areas, swimming pools and pedestrian and vehicle transit areas - do not use it if it is broken, cut or there are ex- posed wires, etc. 4-STROKE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE (4T) ! ! IMPORTANT! Each operation indicated below must be carried out while the engine is off and the engine start switch is in the “STOP O - OFF” position. ! ! IMPORTANT! Always wear safety gloves and safety goggles. The engine is supplied without lubricating oil and without fuel. Starting the engine without oil or with an insufficient amount of oil will irreparably damage it and cause the warranty to become null and void. ENGINE OIL ! ! IMPORTANT! The engine is supplied without lubricant oil: do not operate the machine! You must first add oil to the machine. Use a quality, highly detergent oil for 4T engines, classified under API categories SG or SF. An SAE 15W-40 oil is suitable for all working temperatures, but it is always best to choose the oil type based on the average temperatures of the area. Ambient tempera- ture of use Degree of oil viscosity From 0°C to 25°C SAE 20W, 10W-30, 15W-40 From 25°C to 35°C SAE 30W, 10W-30, 15W-40 Above 35° and up to 40° C SAE 40W FIRST USE AND TOPPING UP THE ENGINE OIL (fig.C) 1. Position the machine on a stable, level surface. 2. Unscrew the oil cap (pos.29) in an anti-clock- wise direction and wipe the end. To reach the cap, according to the model, unscrew the screws and remove a door (pos.20-21). 3. Fill with the required quantity of oil (see the technical specifications). 4. Screw the cap back on, wait a few seconds, check the oil level as shown in the figure, and top up if necessary. The engine oil level must be within the range indicated on the cap (or in the figure); a greater or lesser quantity than the one prescribed will damage the engine. 5. Tighten the cap completely by turning it clockwise. 6. Wipe with a cloth any drops of oil spilled on the machine. 7. Reassemble the door and tighten all the screws. SUBSEQUENT USE, LEVEL CHECK AND TOPPING UP THE ENGINE OIL ! ! IMPORTANT! You must check the oil level when the engine is cold before each use. ! ! IMPORTANT! The oil used contains sub- stances that are harmful to health. Wear protec- tive gloves. 1. Position the machine on a stable, level surface. 2. Unscrew the oil cap (pos.29) in an anti-clock-

- 21 -

wise direction and wipe the end. 3. Screw the cap back on, wait a few seconds, check the oil level as shown in the figure, and top up if necessary. The engine oil level must be within the range indicated on the rod attached to the cap (or in the figure); a greater or lesser quantity than the one prescribed will damage the engine. 4. Tighten the cap completely by turning it clockwise. 5. Wipe with a cloth any drops of oil spilled on the machine. FILLING UP WITH FUEL (fig. D) ! ! IMPORTANT! Risk of fire and explosion. Refill with fuel with the engine off, in a well ventilated outdoor area. If the fuel has splashed onto the machine or pavement, wipe it thoroughly before starting the machine. ! ! IMPORTANT! Risk of fire and explosion. Do not pour fuel onto the hot surfaces of the engine or muffler, or into the electrical components. Only use unleaded petrol for vehicles (green pet- rol or Eurosuper) with octane number 95. Never use oil-petrol mixtures, dirty or old fuel or petrol containing alcohol. Do not allow water or dirt to enter the tank. When you fill with fuel completely fill the tank (see technical data for capacity). 1. Position the machine on a stable, level surface. 2. Unscrew the tank cap (pos.4), turning it anti- clockwise. 3. Observe the fuel filter (pos. 30 where fitted) contained in the hole of the tank to check it is clean and for maximum level reference. 4. Fill the tank (pos.26) without letting it overflow, using a large funnel (not included). Check for any indications on the tank; if there aren’t any, keep the level as per the filter indicator (fig.D) or, if there is no filter, 5 cm below the edge. 5. Tighten the cap by turning it clockwise. 6. Before starting the engine, open the air bleed valve on the fuel tank (pos.5); if this valve is not open the engine will turn off straight after starting. During transport keep the valve closed. 7. Wipe with a cloth any drops of fuel spilled on the machine. 8. Wait 1 minute before starting so that the fuel completely reaches the engine carburettor. STARTING AND STOPPING THE ENGINE ! ! IMPORTANT! As soon as the engine starts electrical energy is also generated at the ends of the sockets. Before starting the engine, ensure that you have completed the operations requested in the previous chapters for initial start-up of the machine and engine. STARTING WITH THE ENGINE COLD (fig.E) 1. Check the engine oil level and fill the tank with fuel. 2. Before starting the engine, close the air bleed valve on the fuel tank (pos.5, OFF). 3. Use the start knob “I - ON” (pos.1) which also opens the fuel cock placing the tank in commu- nication with the carburettor. 4. Activate the choke lever (pos.2) in “START - START” (air closed). 5. Press 5/8 times the fuel-priming pump (pos.36) until the circuit is full. 6. Hold the hand grip (pos.7) with your left hand to keep the machine still for starting it up. 7. With your right hand, grip the start-up handle (pos.3), pull slowly until you feel resistance, and then pull sharply and decisively; once the engine has started, put the handle back in place releasing it smoothly. If the engine does not start, repeat this operation a few times. If the engine still does not start, consult the chapter “Problems, causes and solutions”. ! ! IMPORTANT! Always pull the handle slowly until you feel resistance in order to prevent kickback, which would cause it to strike your hand unexpectedly. 8. Wait about 30 seconds for the engine to get up to speed then position the starter lever in the op- posite direction for “RUN” (air open). Also open the vent on the tank (pos.5 ON) if this valve is not open the engine will switch off immediately after starting. Note: Do not leave the air lever in the start-up position too long, or the engine will tend to flood. HOT ENGINE START-UP Perform the same steps as indicated above but positioning the starter lever (pos.2) in “RUN” straight away. TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND STOPPING THE MACHINE (fig.F) ! ! IMPORTANT! The motor and the alternator continue to run for a few seconds after the ma- chine is switched off. 1. Switch off all electrical loads applied to the

- 22 -

generator. 2. Use the stop knob “O - OFF” (pos.1) which will also close the fuel tap. 3. Close the air bleed valve of the fuel tank (pos.5). BREAKING-IN THE ENGINE During the first 10 hours of operation, do not strain the engine too much; for this reason, do not operate the machine idle at the maximum RPM and during use do not force the machine, applying only 75% of the max. electrical load permitted. If you notice any operating faults, turn off and con- sult the “Problems, causes and solutions” chapter. USER INSTRUCTIONS After reading the previous chapters carefully, apply these instructions scrupulously to obtain maximum performance. Proceed calmly so as to become familiar with all the controls; after having gained sufficient experience, you will be able to make full use of its capacities. - Using the safety earmuffs also attenuates any warning sounds used to draw your attention (such as the horn of a vehicle, or anyone ap- proaching), therefore, do not station yourself in transit areas and always closely observe the area in which you operate. - If necessary use devices to keep strangers away, install warning signs and/or a coloured chain to mark off the area. - Always respect the maximum altitude over sea level and ambient temperature limits (see techni- cal specifications). - Before connecting any electrical load, read and understand the safety warnings. - The electrical load must only be applied after starting the generator engine. - Never apply a 230V load together with a 12V load. Only use one socket at a time. - Observe the maximum current indicated on each socket. - The electrical load connected to the generator must never exceed the maximum power indicated in the technical specifications. - A continuous load is applicable to 75% of the declared power. - If the load applied to the generator corresponds to the declared power, do not exceed 20 min- utes of continuous operation. - The machine has a trip switch to protect against overloads. In the case of an excessive load, it could intervene to interrupt the supply. - Take care with the power factor of your load and calculate the load absorption to apply to the generator first. The following table shows an indication of the type of load applicable to the generator and the maximum power. Note: for the generator power refer to the indications on the technical data label. For user appliance power levels refer to the absorbed power indicated in their technical data labels. Applied load (examples) Permitted gener- ator power (kW) Purely resistive loads with cosφ=1 - Incandescent lamps - Electric heaters with resistance - Electric geysers - Clothes irons 100% Loads with high starting pow- er and power factor near 1. - Power tools with universal motors (brush) - Angle grinders - Portable jigsaws - Portable circular saws - Heat guns 65% Loads with high starting power and power factor other than 1 - Asynchronous motors - Compressors - Hoists - Concrete mixers - Fluorescent lights 50% Loads with very high starting power - Refrigerators - Air conditioners 20% - Never leave the generator working, stay in the area and check it from time to time. Check the alarm lights and, if necessary, switch it off and fill up with fuel (see hourly consumption in the technical specifications). - Fuel consumption varies according to the applied load, therefore with a low load and when the “Economiser” function is on (described later) the consumption will be lower, whereas with a high load the consumption will be higher.

- 23 -

CONNECTING AND DISCONNECTING THE AC230V ELECTRICAL CABLE Before plugging in or unplugging the machine you must always switch off the applied load and put the general switch of the electrical transport line (not included) to “O - OFF”. Grip the plug in the socket area and, when the generator socket is plugged in/unplugged do not touch earthed parts, such as the generator itself, fences, pipes, lighting points, etc. with your free hand or body. Connecting the electrical load 1. Turn the user line switch to “O - OFF” (not in- cluded, normally the general switch of the applied load, so as to isolate the load from the generator). 2. Check that no plug is plugged into the generator. 2. Start the generator and wait 2 minutes for the engine to warm up and rotate normally. 3. Check the warning light (pos.16) is on; if it is flashing wait. 4. Connect a suitable plug, from the user appliance or from the extension cable, to the generator socket. 5. Turn the line switch to “I - ON” and turn on the user. Disconnecting the electrical load 1. Turn off the user and turn the line switch to “O - OFF” (not included, normally the general switch of the applied load, so as to isolate the load from the generator). 2. Unplug the plug from the generator socket, grip- ping the plug and not pulling the cable. 3. Turn off the generator. SHUTDOWN OF THE ENGINE IN CASE OF LOW ENGINE OIL The engine has an automatic emergency stop de- vice if there is not enough oil. This device prevents serious damage to the engine. If the device intervenes, the yellow warning light (pos.14) comes on first then the engine turns off; do not try to start it but restore the correct level of oil (see Maintenance chapter). If you try to start up with an insufficient oil, the generator does not start and the yellow warning light comes on briefly to indicate the problem. ELECTRICAL OVERLOAD PROTECTION SYSTEM The generator is equipped with an automatic electri- cal disengagement device if the requested load is over the dispensable power; this device prevents serious damage to the generator. If the device intervenes the red warning light (pos.15) comes on first and after a few seconds the electric power is disconnected; check the total power of the applied load and reduce it until the generator rated power is reached (see above for the power factor and relative calculation to use). To restore the power supply from the generator it is necessary to switch it off, wait a few seconds and switch it on again. POWER SUPPLY INDICATOR The green warning light (pos. 16) indicates if the generator is ready to supply electric power: - flashing light: not ready, wait before plugging in. - light on: ready, you can now plug the load into the generator socket. ECONOMISER This is a system that automatically regulates the number of engine revolutions according to the ap- plied load, therefore if it is used it will reduce the fuel consumption; avoid operating the generator on maximum speed with lower wear on the compo- nents, a smaller amount of gas will be emitted into the atmosphere and you will save on fuel costs. It is possible that the economiser will not intervene in the event of a load variation that is limited over time. When high loads are applied simultaneously, switch to off “O - OFF” in order to avoid continuous engine revolution and voltage variations. Press the switch (pos.12) according to require- ments: - economiser on “I - ON”: adjusts the number of engine revolutions according to the applied load. - economiser off “O - OFF”: the engine operates on the maximum number of revolutions. 12V DC BATTERY CHARGING SOCKET ! ! IMPORTANT! Non-observance of the correct procedures for charging the battery could cause damage to the latter and explosion. Read the bat- tery warnings and instructions and apply them. ! ! IMPORTANT! During charging the battery emits a gas that is highly flammable and hazard- ous to health. Charge in well-ventilated places away from flames, sparks, cigarettes and all sources of heat. Always wear safety gloves and safety goggles. ! ! IMPORTANT! The 12V DC generator socket is only to be used as a battery charger for vehicle batteries; do not apply it to other types of bat- teries. Never apply a 230V load together with a 12V load. Only use one socket at a time. ! ! IMPORTANT! The generator supplies current sufficient for charging batteries up to 70 Ah/ 12V.

- 24 -

! ! IMPORTANT! The connection cable between the socket on the generator and battery must be handled with care and attention to prevent a dangerous short circuit. Manual reset The generator is equipped with an automatic electric disconnection device if an anomaly is detected in the 12V power supply; this device prevents serious damage to the generator, but it is not able to control the battery status or to prevent battery damage. If the device intervenes it must be pressed to reset it (pos.13); however, the problem that has caused the protection to intervene must be discovered. With the engine off, check the electrical connec- tions (e.g. short circuit) and the battery conditions (e.g. inverted polarities, electrolyte level, etc. - if necessary contact a car electrician). Charging the battery 1. Prepare the battery (not included), by reading the battery instructions; disconnect it physically from the vehicle and keep it at a distance from the generator. 2. Prepare the cable for the connection (pos.35 where fitted). 3. Start the generator and wait 2 minutes for the engine to warm up and rotate normally. 4. Check the warning light (pos.16) is on; if it is flashing wait. 5. Connect the gripper of the positive pole + (red) to the positive pole + of the battery. Take care with the other end of the cable as the plug is live: do not touch any metal parts of the plug and do not place it in contact with other metal parts or with the ground. 6. Connect the gripper of the negative pole - (black) to the negative pole - of the battery. 7. Plug the cable into the 12V socket on the genera- tor electrical control panel (pos.10) 8. Leave the battery connected until it is fully charged (for the time see the battery instructions). 9. After charging disconnect the plug from the socket. Take care as the plug is live: do not touch any metal parts of the plug and do not place it in contact with other metal parts or with the ground. 10. Disconnect the negative pole gripper - (black) from the battery. 11. Disconnect the positive pole gripper + (red) from the battery. 12. Turn off the generator. MAINTENANCE ! ! IMPORTANT! All operations indicated below must be performed with the engine off, the switch in the off position, all the plugs disconnected from the electrical control panel, the spark plug cap off and the engine cooled to ambient temperature. IMPORTANT! Do not tamper with or try to repair the machine; some operations must be per- formed at an authorised service centre. IMPORTANT! If in doubt, contact an authorised service centre. The maintenance plan is designed to keep your generator in perfect condition. Maintenance checks and operations performed regularly contribute to maintaining the quality, safety, economical use and commercial value intact. The checks covered by the maintenance plan must be validated by the authorised service centre, with the stamp, date and signature. This handbook with the details of the periodic maintenance operations provides proof that the generator has been correctly serviced. This is particularly important in the event of resale and for any operations covered by warranty. Failure to perform the required maintenance invalidates the warranty. For cleaning do not use aggressive or flammable detergents or water. The plastic parts can easily be damaged by chemical agents.
