INSTALLATION
CONSIDERATIONS
Before you install your TV...
Ventilation
--- Proper ventilation keeps your TV
running cool. Air circulates through perforations
in the back and bottom of the cabinet. Do not
block these vents or you will shorten the life of
your TV.
Power Source -- Your TV is designed to operate
on normal hou,;ehold current, 120 volt 60 Hertz AC.
Do not attempt to operate it on DC current.
Power Cord -- Your power cord has a polarized
plug as required by Underwriters'
Laboratories. It
has one regular blade and one wide blade and fits
only one way into a standard electrical outlet. If
the blades will not enter either way, your outlet is
very old and non-standard.
A new outlet should be
installed by a qualified electrician.
Safe Operation
-- Your TV is manufactured
and
tested with your safety in mind. However, unusual
stress caused by dropping or mishandling, expo-
sure to flood, fire, rain or moisture, or accidental
spilling of liquids into the TV, can result in poten-
tial electrical shock or fire hazards. If this hap-
pens, have your TV checked by a service
technician before using it again.
Please
read and observe
each
safety
point in the "Safety
Tips"
section
when installing
and using
your
TV.
VIDEO
GAMES
AND
OTHER
FIXED
PATTERN
DISPLAY
CAUTION
--
If you use your TV for
video games
or other
fixed
displays,
avoid
setting
the
BRIGHTNESS
control
for an excesdvely
bright
picture.
A
fixed display
is any image
which
does not change
fiequently,
such as a channel/network
identification
or other
symbol
that
remains
in the same
location
for long periods
of time.
A
bright,
fixed pattern,
if left on for long periods
of time,
can re-
sult in a permanent
imprint
on the TV picture
tube.
You can
reduce
this possibility
by alternating
the use of 1:hefixed
pat-
tern display
with normal
TV picture
viewing,
by turning
down
the CONTRAST
control
for sustained
fixed
pattern
use, and
by turning
off the fixed
pattern
display
when
nc,t in use.
PLUGGING
IN YOUR
TV --- Be sure
to plug your TV into
an "unswitched"
AC power
source.
The
"switched"
AC out-
lets found on some
video equipment
will not continue
supply-
ing power
to the TV once the equipment
is turned
off. If the
power to the TV is interrupted,
you will have
tc reset the
clock
in the TV to the current
time.

SPECIAL
FEATURES
If you experience problems when recording using the VCR Plus+ feature using your VCR and/or cable box, see if the problem(s)
can be resolved by programming
in one of these special features. These special features enable you to use your brand of equipment
even though it requires unique remote control characteristics.
Note: To erase these special features, simply reprogram the brand code into the CABLE or VCR mode.
Cable/Converter
Volume (Code 399)
You may use your remote to ,control cable/convertervolume and muting
if available on your equipment. First program your remote with thebrand
cxxlefor yourcabledevice usingthe CABLE key. Then repeat the
programming steps, again using the CABLE key, but key in code
3-9-9 instead of a brand code.
To restore TV volume/mute to the CABLE mode, simply re-enter
(key-in) your cableiconveaer code numberinto that mode.
599 Add ENTER
Some cable boxes and VCR's require an ENTER code to properly
tune a channel. When 599 is.programmed into either the CABLE or
VCR mode, the remote will transmit the ENTER code for either the
cable box or the VCR during a VCR Plus+ recording. This feature
and the 699 CH100 feature described below cannot be active at the
same time.
699 CH100.
Some cable boxes and VCRs require a CH 100 code to properly tune
a 3-digit channel. When 699 is programmed
into either the cable or
VCR mode, the remote will transmit a CH I00 code, if required,
during a VCR Plus+ recording. This feature and the 599 Add
ENTER feature, described above, cannot be active at the same time.
799 Increase
Digit
Separation
This feature,
when
programmed
into either
the CAlqLE
or VCR
mode, will increase
the time between
digit
transmis:;ions
to 1 second
during
VCR Plus+
recording.
Use this feature
if the default
between
digit
transmissions
is too fast for the VCR
or cable
box.
899 Digit
Override
If a VCR brand
code has been
programmed
into the VCR
mode,
but
the Cable
mode
is empty,
the remol:e will transmit
VCR
digits
(for
example,
it will tune the VCR
during
a VCR
Plus+
recording).
If a
Cable
brand
code
has been
programmed
into the CABLE
mode,
then
the remote
will transmit
cable
digits
(for example,
it will tune
the
cable
box)
during
a VCR
Plus+
record: ng). Programming
899 into
the Cable
or VCR
mode will
force the remote
to traasmit
VCR
digits,
even
if a Cable
brand
(:ode has been
programmed
ir_to the CABLE
mode
during
a VCR Plus+
recording.
999 Decrease
Digit
Separation
This feature,
when
programmed
into either
CABLE
or VCR
