Rack Mount Installation Guide

4 Introduction About This Manual This manual describes how to mount a Spectra 12K or Spectra 20K library in a standard 19-inch rack, or in an enclosed rack (such as a Compaq® enclosure rack, a Rittal® rack, or most climate controlled racks). Estimated Time Required This procedure will take about 90 minutes. Materials and Tools Required You will need a Rack Mount Kit which is shipped with every Spectra 12K and Spectra 20K library. If you have discarded the kit that was shipped with your library, you will need to order a new Rack Mount Kit (P.N. 90919032), which includes: • Two rack mount rails • Two rack mount sliders • Two rack mount extension brackets • Eight 10-32 nuts • 22 10-32 clip-on nuts • 35 10-32 x 1/2-inch screws If you are rack mounting a library in an enclosed rack, you will also need an Enclosed Rack Mount Kit (P.N. 90919038) which includes: • Left side rack mounting bracket, P.N. 90910771 • Right side rack mounting bracket, P.N. 90910772 • 9 10-32 x 1/4-inch screws • 4 10-32 x 3/8-inch screws

5 You will also need: • A #2 Phillips screwdriver • A #2 stubby Phillips screwdriver • An adjustable wrench • A tape measure • The library front door key Rack Dimensions The rack mount kit comes with an expandable rail to account for unique rack depth dimensions. If you know the depth dimension of your rack, you can use this chart to expand the rail. For example, if you need a depth of 27.83 in. (70.7 cm) you would attach the rail with four screws using holes slots 1 & 5. Warning: Do not extend the rack rails to holes 17 and 18—the rack rails will not be able to support the weight of the library at full extension.
