The water inlet hose must be flushed

through before using the appliance for the first time, and thereafter every time the water inlet hose is re-fitted. This is to remove any deposits which may have collected in the inlet hose and at the stopcock. This steam oven must only be installed in a suitable tall housing unit. The appliance must be installed at such a height that small children cannot reach the appliance door, which gets hot during use. The top edge of the appliance door should not be above eye level. If it is too high, you will find it difficult to access all levels safely when putting dishes into the oven and taking them out, and there is a danger of food spillages and possible scalding. This equipment may only be used in mobile installations such as ships, caravans, aircraft etc. if a risk assessment of the installation has been carried out by a suitably qualified engineer. All installation work must be carried out by a suitably qualified technician in strict accordance with current local and national safety regulations. Water Authority and Building Regulations must also be observed. The stopcock for the steam oven water inlet must be located so that it is easily accessible after the appliance has been built in. To ensure that the waste water is pumped away completely, the mains drainage outlet point should not be positioned higher than the drain hose outlet position on the steam oven. The temperature of the water being drained is approx. 80 - 90 °C. The hoses and mains connection cable must be fitted in such a way that the appliance can be easily taken out of the housing unit by a service technician should repair work ever be necessary. Safety instructions 4

A cut-out a, as illustrated below, is

required in the housing unit for feeding the water inlet and outlet through. This is to ensure that there is adequate space for any movement in the hoses during operation and thus prevent the risk of damage to the hoses and any subsequent water damage. bIsolator switch position. Important UK: Do not position the isolator behind the appliance! Keep these instructions in a safe place and pass them on to any future user/owner of the appliance. services ^ Before connecting the appliance to the mains supply you must disconnect the electricity supply to the isolator switch. See "Electrical Connection". ^ Connect the mains connection cable to the isolator switch in accordance with current local and national safety regulations. ^ Feed the water inlet and drainage hoses through the cut-out a in the housing unit. See "Safety instructions". ^ Push the appliance into the recess as far as it will go, making sure that the mains connection cable and the water inlet and drain hoses do not get trapped or damaged when doing so. After aligning the appliance, it must be secured against slippage. ^ Secure the appliance using screws j supplied, as shown in the diagrams. ^ Switch the electricity supply back on again. See "Electrical connection". ^ Connect the appliance to the water supply and drainage outlet. ^ Using the Operating Instructions as a guide, check all oven functions are working correctly. Before using for the first time, check all hose connections for leaks. DG 4064 DG 4064 L Installation 14

All electrical work should be carried

out by a suitably qualified and competent person, in strict accordance with current local and national safety regulations (BS 7671 in the UK). Installation, repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for unauthorised work. Ensure power is not supplied to the appliance until after installation or repair work has been carried out. The appliance must only be operated when built-in. This is to ensure that all electrical parts are shielded. Live parts must not be exposed. Do not connect the appliance to the mains electricity supply by an extension lead. These do not guarantee the required safety of the appliance. Please make sure that the connection data quoted on the data plate match the household mains supply. Connection should be made via a suitable isolator which complies with national and local safety regulations, and the On/Off switch should be easily accessible after the appliance has been built in. If the switch is not accessible after installation (depending on country) an additional means of disconnection must be provided for all poles. For extra safety it is advisable to install a residual current device (RCD), with a trip current of 30 mA. When switched off there must be an all-pole contact gap of at least 3 mm in the isolator switch (including switch, fuses and relays). Important U.K. The appliance is supplied for connection to a 230-240 V, 50 Hz supply with a 3-core cable. The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: Green/yellow = earth Blue = neutral Brown = live Electrical connection 15

THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE

EARTHED The electrical safety of this appliance can only be guaranteed when continuity is complete between it and an effective earthing system, which complies with current local and national safety regulations. It is most important that this basic safety requirement is present and regularly tested and where there is any doubt, the electrical wiring in the home should be inspected by a qualified electrician. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for the consequences of an inadequate earthing system such as an electric shock. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage which is the direct or indirect result of incorrect installation or connection. Electrical connection 16

N.B. This appliance is supplied single phase only in the UK.

Electrical connection 17

Connection to the water supply

– This appliance must be connected to a mains drinking water supply only. – The steam oven needs to be connected to the mains water supply and to the drainage system by a fully qualified person in accordance with national and local Water Authority regulations. This appliance is constructed in accordance with German water regulations (DVGW), and may be connected to a suitable supply without an extra non-return valve if national regulations permit. – The appliance is designed to operate with a flow pressure of between 1 and 6 bar. If necessary a pressure reducing valve must be fitted. The water connection must be fitted so that the stopcock is easily accessible (e.g. in a neighbouring base unit). The person installing the appliance is responsible for ensuring its correct operation. If a water softener is already installed in the building, the electrical conductivity of the water must be maintained. Water inlet connection hose The appliance is supplied as standard with a special 2.5 m long water connection hose with a solenoid valve, flow regulator and 3/4" threaded union. The 2.5 m connection hose must not be shortened or damaged, as it contains electrical parts. The hose may be lengthened up to a maximum of 7.5 metres using hose extensions. These are available as optional accessories from the Miele Spare Parts Department, and must not be shortened or damaged. Please note: If the hose is lengthened, the hose extension does not have a solenoid valve. Plumbing 18

Connection to drainage

A siphon with a fixed hose connection point must be provided in the base unit for the drain hose. Often the only connection point available is on the sink drain outlet. This connection point g must not be used. Water draining through it would be too noisy and odours can occur. A second separate siphon f must be provided which can be connected via a T-connection piece or via a separate drainage point. See "Appliance and building-in dimensions". Drain hose The standard 2.5 m drain hose supplied is connected to the siphon, using a C 21 mm hose sleeve and hose clip. The drain hose must not be shortened. The hose may be lengthened (horizontally) up to a maximum of 7.5 metres using hose extensions. These are available as optional accessories from the Miele Spare Parts Department and must not be shortened or damaged. Plumbing 19
