 5. Once aligned, use a felt-tipped pen to trace the outline of the fuselage onto the top and bottom of the stabilizer.  6. Remove the stabilizer from the fuselage. Use a hobby knife with a new #11 blade to trim the covering slightly INSIDE the lines drawn on the stabilizer. Use light pressure so you do not cut into the underlying wood. Remove the covering from the inside of the cut lines on the top and bottom of the stabilizer. Important: Cutting into the underlying wood will weaken the stabilizer and it could fail in flight.
