GENERAL 1. 01 The disassembly procedures presented in this section, together with those given in the section on general requirements for disas sembly of teletypewriter apparatus, will sepa rate the single-contact and the multicontact mul tiple-mounted transmitter-distributor sets into their major subassemblies. 1. 02 This section is reissued to add disassem- bly procedures for the single-contact mul tiple-mounted transmitter-distributor set and to change the title accordingly. 1. 03 For disassembly routines for the trans- mitter-distributor units, refer to the sec tions on disassembly of the 28H (for single contact) and 28G (for multicontact) transmitter distributor units. 1. 04 To reassemble, reverse the disassembly procedures. Where additional informa tion is required, a Reassembly Note is added . . 2. DISASSEMBLY A. Single-contact Multiple-mounted Transmit ter-Distributor Set 2. 01 Transmitter-Distributor Unit: To remove the units from the base, remove the cover plate. Open the hinged panel on the front of the dust cover. Loosen the two screws on the lock ing device at the right rear corner of the trans mitter-distributor unit and slide the locking de vice to the left. Remove the mounting screw at the front of the unit which secures the unit to the base. Lift the unit out of the cover. Reassembly Note: To reassemble the unit on the base, reverse the disassembly pro cedure. Position each unit from left to right so that there is barely perceptible gear play. Tighten the three mounting screws. 2. 02 Dust Cover: To remove the dust cover from the base, lift up. B. Multicontact Multiple-mounted Transmit ter-Distributor Set 2. 03 Cover: To remove the transmitter-distri butor unit from the multiple base, first remove the cover, as follows: (1) Open the hinged front portion of the cover to provide access to each transmitter distributor and its attached cradle. Lift off the coverplate. Remove the clamp screw that anchors the cradle in its slide, then lift up ward and pull-forward to disengage the unit. (2) Lift the cover upward and move toward the front. 2. 04 Transmitter-Distributor Unit: To remove the transmitter-distributor unit from the cradle, proceed as follows: (1} Remove the two screws and lockwashers which secure the plug connector to the cra dle. Reassembly Note: When the screws are re piaced, make sure that the head of each screw is on the outside of the cradle. (2} Remove the two screws and lockwashers that secure the casting to the rear projec tion of the cradle. Remove the screw, lock washer, and nut that secure the casting to the front projection of the cradle. Note that the bushing is mounted with its hex head on the top side of the casting. f (3) Remove the screw, lockwasher, and flat washer that secure the tape deflector to the top plate and the screw, lockwasher, and flat washer that secure the right end of the tape deflector assembly. (4) Remove the filler-plate mounting screws. Reassembly Note: Reassemble in the re verse order, taking care not to damage the cable, cable connector, or switches. 2. 05 Base: To disassemble the transmitter distributor base, proceed as follows: (1) Remove the motor mounting screws with out disturbing the shaft height unnecessar ily. ( 2) Disassemble the left end of the counter shaft assembly by removing the screw, together with its lockwasher and flat washer, which threads through the hub collar into the side of the shaft. Then remove the screw, together with its associated lockwasher and flat wash ers, which threads through the hub into the end © American Telephone and Telegraph Company, 1964 Printed in U.S. A. BELL SYSTEM PRACTICES Plant Series SECTION 502-543-406 Issue 1, May 1970 AT&TCo Standard SERVICE 2565LK TELEPHONE SETS 1. GENERAL 1.01 This section provides maintenance and connection information for the 2565LK telephone sets. Maintenance information was formerly found in Section 502-525-125. Connection information was formerly found in Section 502-525-437 which is hereby canceled. 2. MAINTENANCE Replaceable Components 2.01 Field replaceable items are listed under Ordering Guide in the appropriate Reference section in Division 502. Loose Card Retainers 2.02 Current production sets are equipped with P-25E803 and P-269561 card retainers, which cannot be adjusted. 2.03 If P-25E785 (MD) card retainer becomes so loose on the faceplate that the number card or designation strip slips, they can be tightened as follows: (1) Remove faceplate from set. (2) Remove card retainer from faceplate. (3) Bend the four arms of the retainer so that more pressure will be applied to the number card and designation strip. The bends should be made approximately 1/2-inch in from the tabs on the ends of the arms and in the opposite direction from the factory bent tabs. (4) Install the card retainer on the faceplate and insert the number card and designation strip. (5) Install faceplate on telephone set. Note: If adjusting the arms of the retainer does not result in sufficient holding power, replace the card retainer. Housing 2.04 When removing or replacing housing, guide lower front of housing over pushbuttons. On sets equipped with exclusion, pull exclusion plunger up to its operated position before removing housing. Plunger should also be in upper position when replacing housing. With housing in place, operate plunger several times to insure proper operation. Lamps and Pushbuttons 2.05 Replace cracked pushbuttons or collar assemblies.
