Warning notice system
This manual contains notices you have to observe in order to ensure your personal safety, as well as to prevent damage to property. The
notices referring to your personal safety are highlighted in the manual by a safety alert symbol, notices referring only to property damage
have no safety alert symbol. These notices shown below are graded according to the degree of danger.
DANGER
indicates that death or severe personal injury will result if proper precautions are not taken.
WARNING
indicates that death or severe personal injury may result if proper precautions are not taken.
CAUTION
indicates that minor personal injury can result if proper precautions are not taken.
NOTICE
indicates that property damage can result if proper precautions are not taken.
If more than one degree of danger is present, the warning notice representing the highest degree of danger will be used. A notice warning of
injury to persons with a safety alert symbol may also include a warning relating to property damage.
Qualified Personnel
The product/system described in this documentation may be operated only by personnel qualified for the specific task in accordance with
the relevant documentation, in particular its warning notices and safety instructions. Qualified personnel are those who, based on their
training and experience, are capable of identifying risks and avoiding potential hazards when working with these products/systems.
Proper use of Siemens products

Characteristics
Area of application
The transponder corner bracket can be mounted at an angle
of 45° to the corner of a workpiece holder, so that the MDS
Dx60 transponder attached to it can be equally processed
regardless of the conveying direction (longitudinal or trans-
verse conveyance).

Installation
Note
Temperature during installation work
The transponders must be mounted and disassembled at room temperature.
Mounting the transponder and the transponder corner bracket
To mount the transponder, follow these steps:
1. Insert the transponder into the transponder corner bracket diagonally from above.
2. Press the transponder down slightly until the transponder is latches in the transponder corner bracket.
3. Fasten the transponder corner bracket with a M4 cylinder head screw.
Note
Additionally securing the fixing screw
If the transponder corner bracket is exposed to frequent temperature fluctuations and mechanical shock, additionally secure
the fixing screw, e. g. with screw retainer finish or lock nuts.
Disassembling the transponder
To disassemble the transponder, follow these steps:
1. Use a suitable tool, e.g. a flat screwdriver, to pry the transponder out of the transponder corner bracket.

Field data
The sensing ranges are based on the distance between the reader or antenna and the edge of the transponder corner
bracket.

Note
Effect of inclined position
The field geometry becomes distorted if you mount the transponder in an inclined position. It is recommended to test the
respective configuration before use, as the field geometry differs from the standard configuration in form.
Figure 4-1
Distorted field geometry
When the transponder corner bracket is aligned at 45°, the working distances and boundary distances are around 75% of
the values of a parallel alignment. Due to the distorted field geometry, it is advisable to perform a test with the final mounting
position of the transponder corner bracket and the reader. The minimum distances and transmission windows can be found
in the system manuals for "SIMATIC RF200" and "SIMATIC RF300".
