The Doubl-Mat® combines a thick, ribbed rubber surface to reduce load shifting with a high density polyethylene (HDPE) surface for easier loading and unloading. Unlike rubber bed mats that must be removed when loading and unloading heavy cargo, the Doubl-Mat® HDPE surface allows you to slide your load, providing crucial bed protection when damage is most likely to occur. Unroll Doubl-Mat. Because the Doubl-Mat is made of both rubber and HDPE, the mat will require time to relax and lay flat when you remove it from the box. The best results are achieved when the mat is exposed to the sun’s heat & UV rays on a surface that absorbs heat, such as concrete or asphalt. When first unrolling, use heavy objects on the corners of the mat to hold it down until it lays flat by itself. Depending on the outside temperature, this process can take several hours or a couple of days. Size to truck bed. The Doubl-Mat is 4’x 8’. The mat is not intended to cover the wheel well areas or the inside of the tailgate, only the main area of the bed between the wheel wells. The length of the Doubl-Mat is 8’. For truck beds less than 8’ long, you may trim the mat to the desired length. To trim the mat, lay it on the ground with the rubber side down. Next, use a utility knife or razor blade to make a straight cut until the mat separates. Note: The use of a straight edge or board will ensure a straight, clean cut. The 4’ width will fit in most full size truck beds. The mat should lay flat between the wheel wells. If you have a more narrow truck bed, such as a step side or mid size, you can trim the width as needed, using the same process as above. STEP 2. USING YOUR DOUBL-MAT When using a Loadhandler or unloading any heavy object from your truck (i.e. furniture, appliances, etc.), have the slick HDPE plastic side of the Doubl-Mat facing up. This will ensure that your cargo or load slides out more easily and with less friction. For everyday use, have the rubber side of the Doubl-Mat facing up. This will help protect your truck bed and help prevent any cargo or objects from sliding around while your vehicle is in motion. Installation is complete.
